⚽🌍 As the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, we're reminded once again of football’s unique power to bring people together — across countries, cultures, and continents. 🤝

🌎 Throughout the last year, we have been privileged to support people from many of the nations competing in this summer’s tournament. Sadly, many come from countries whose citizens have been denied the opportunity to participate in person due to restrictive migration and visa policies, as well as unaffordable costs. 🚫✈️

🏆 The World Cup is at its best when everyone can take part, share experiences, and celebrate together. The same is true of our communities. ❤️

⚽ Football is global because people are global. 🎉 Enjoy the tournament, cheer on your team, and celebrate the power of football to bring people together. ⚽🌍🧡

May was busy as always!

Our team of fantastic caseworkers as always secured some life-changing victories for RMJ's clients. These achievements are not mere statistics; behind every positive outcome, there is a person or a family making efforts to get on with their lives by reclaiming their rights and building a stable future for themselves.

📍 For years, migrants in the UK have faced lengthy settlement routes, rising costs, and ongoing uncertainty about their future.

⏳ With new proposals that could make the path to permanent status even longer, what does this mean for migrants and their families?

🎙️ Our Head of Campaigning, Nick Beales, joined The Decolonial Centre's Decolonial Dispatch to discuss how these policies have developed, their real-life impact, and why they matter.

🌟 It’s Volunteers’ Week, and we really want to thank all the volunteers who give their time freely for the good of others—they are a huge part of our organisation!

🙌 Nina’s volunteered with us for 3 years and in this video she sets out why she gives up her time to help RMJ clients. As she explains, nothing gives Nina more satisfaction than seeing her clients build new lives for themselves with confidence and optimism.

✨ We’re continually inspired by volunteers like Nina, whose compassion and commitment help create pathways to justice, dignity, and opportunity. Thank you, Nina, and to all our volunteers. The contribution you make is immeasurable!

💬 If you’ve ever considered volunteering, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to find out more or tag a friend who would love volunteering with us!

Our Head of Campaigning, Nick Beales, joined The Decolonial Centre’s Decolonial Dispatch for an important conversation on the UK’s hostile environment and what the current government’s proposed migration policies could mean for families facing prolonged precarity.

From Windrush to visa bans affecting people from Sudan and Afghanistan, to broken promises to care workers and NHS staff — not isolated failures, but connected outcomes of a deliberately hostile system.

✊Freedom at 10, RMJ’s lived experience group, paid a visit to Parliament las week, making sure the voices of people directly impacted by the UK’s immigration system were heard in the corridors of power.

📢Giving oral evidence to the APPG for Poverty and Inequality, F10 brought first-hand lived experience into a critical conversation about how immigration policies are driving poverty, housing insecurity and financial hardship for migrant families across the UK.

This builds on an earlier APPG session focused on our “Government-Imposed Poverty” report, with our evidence now informing a forthcoming parliamentary report examining the government’s so-called earned settlement model will push migrant families into poverty.

🙌F10 were joined by Leon Elliott (NACCOM) and Arthur Lewis (Islington Council), bringing together lived experience, frontline expertise, and local government perspectives.

Let’s carry the energy of this powerful experience forward and share it with everyone. Join us in demanding fairness and dignity—don’t let it stop here:

👉Like and help us sharing this post.
👉Tell your friends, family and colleagues how settlement is a right, not a privilege.

This is just the start, together we can fix this.
