Violence against women and girls is a systemic societal problem. But the government's decision to suggest this is a refugee problem fuels racism instead of making women safer. ⚠️

Day in, day out, we witness how damaging policies and public narratives affect the people we support. The government must listen to specialist organisations and people with lived experience—not scapegoat migrants for problems that exist across society.

Women for Refugee Women and other specialist organisations have outlined what the government should focus on: sustained investment in support services, prevention and education, and removing barriers to safety and justice.

📲 Watch our CEO James Tullett, on ITV News explaining why the government's approach is so problematic.

💪Another success for RMJ’s legal team, and a life-changing result for Aminata!🥰

Aminata came to the UK when she was three years old. After years of uncertainty, she has finally secured indefinite leave to remain. She can now continue the life she has built here with greater stability. 👶👤

We believe indefinite leave to remain should be affordable for everyone. That’s why we’re campaigning to make it a reality. No one should be priced out of settlement in the only place they have ever called home. You can support our campaign by visiting our website and e-mailing your MP.📲

Alternatively, please keep standing with us. Every like, comment and share helps more people find our work and get the support they need.🧡👍

🫠Okay, this message made our whole team a little emotional. One of our clients was unwell, unable to leave home and worried about getting food for herself and her daughter. So our team stepped in to help!

📲She sent us a message saying: “Your help has given me hope and strength to keep going.” - Honestly, messages like this restore our faith in humanity! 🧡

👆At RMJ, we know that expert legal support starts with treating people like people. That means listening, showing up and making sure nobody has to face a crisis alone. Please keep standing with us. Every like, comment and share helps more people find our work and get the support they need!👍🥰

After 23 years, Deborah is finally a British citizen! 🇬🇧

She came to the UK aged 3, and this country is the only home she has ever known, yet she grew up without secure immigration status.

In 2018, Deborah was placed on the 10-year route to settlement, facing repeated applications, uncertainty and costly visa renewals.

In 2022, campaigning by our friends We Belong led to a five-year route for people brought to the UK as young children. Finally, with RMJ’s legal support, Deborah secured settlement in 2025 and has now become a British citizen.

Her story shows what campaigning and expert legal advice can achieve. Together, we can fix this 💪

Did you catch Nick Beales, our Head of Campaigning, speaking to Tom Swarbrick on LBC? 🎙️

They discussed Reform UK’s alarming proposal to send people to prisons in El Salvador risks exposing them to torture and other serious human rights abuses. This policy risks undermining the universal prohibition on torture.

🎧 Listen to the interview—it begins 2 hours and 8 minutes into the programme.

Reform’s latest proposal to send people to prisons in El Salvador risks exposing them to torture and other serious human rights abuses.

The absolute prohibition on torture is a non-negotiable British value. The UK cannot outsource its prison system—or its responsibilities under international law—to countries with appalling human rights records.

👍This could be big! New Prime Minister Andy Burnham acknowledged that refugees need safe routes to get to the UK. That's welcome! But we need action now.

Enforcement and so-called deterrence will not stop people from needing and seeking protection. We’ve seen that time and time again.

💁Without safe routes to actually reach the UK, people have no choice but to take dangerous journeys.
Keir Starmer didn’t get this. A year ago, his government suspended refugee family reunion. This was a scheme that allowed families to reunite safely. And it worked.

If Andy Burnham is serious about building a system that offers safe routes, here’s something he can do today.

Restore the family reunion route. We’re ready to work with you on this, Andy. Just give us a call. 📲
We can fix this.
