Happy Pride Month! Community Matters ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ‰

June is here, and across the globe, our IGR family is lacing up our boots with pride.
From the pitch to the parade, we celebrate the strength it takes to live authentically and the courage it takes to tackle stereotypes, literally and figuratively.

Pride isn't just a month on the calendar. It's every training session where you found your team. It's every match where you played as your true self. It's every newcomer who walks onto our pitch and finally feels like they belong.

To our players, coaches, allies, and supporters: thank you for making our rugby community a sport where everyone has a place on the team.

This month, we march. We play. We celebrate how far we've come and we keep pushing for a game, and a world, where no one is left on the sidelines.

Wherever you are in the world, you are part of this team. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

Happy LGBTQ Families Day from all of us at International Gay Rugby.

Rugby has this funny way of turning teammates into family. The people you train with. The ones who tape your wrists when you're being dramatic about it. The faces in the crowd who never miss a match, rain or shine.

Today we're thinking about all the different kinds of families in our community. The couples raising kids together. The parents who finally get to watch their child play as their true self. The friends who show up with soup when you're sick and somehow know exactly when you need it.

Family doesn't always look like the postcards. Sometimes it looks like a muddy changing room. Sometimes it looks like one person who just... gets it.

Wherever you found yours, we're glad you're here.

Happy Families Day. Be good to each other.

๐Ÿ‰ ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™ Celebrating Pansexual & Panromantic Awareness Day

Today, IGR proudly marks Pansexual & Panromantic Awareness Day, celebrating people whose attractions go beyond gender those who are drawn to others based on connection, not categories.

Rugby is a sport built on diversity, teamwork, and respect. Yet we
know that for many pansexual and panromantic people, their identities are still misunderstood, overlooked, or erased. Today is an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge stereotypes, and ensure that everyone feels seen and valued within our community.

At IGR, we are committed to creating an environment where all identities are recognised and respected, on and off the pitch.

๐ŸŒ We celebrate the richness of our diverse community
๐Ÿค We stand against prejudice and invisibility
๐Ÿ‰ We work to ensure rugby is a space where everyone belongs

To our pansexual and panromantic players, supporters, and volunteers: your identities are valid, your experiences matter, and you are an essential part of our global rugby family.

Together, we continue to build a game where love, respect, and authenticity take centre stage.

IGR STATEMENT.

The newly published EHRC Code of Practice leaves trans people in the UK with fewer rights and protections than they had before last yearโ€™s Supreme Court ruling.

This guidance not only fails to uphold the dignity and equality of transgender people, it also appears to weaken safeguards for the wider LGBTQ+ community. Instead of engaging openly and respectfully with those affected, the Government chose to delay publication of the Code until the last possible moment.

International Gay Rugby stands firmly with our trans players, supporters, volunteers, and clubs. Our community is built on inclusion, respect, and the belief that rugby is for everyone. Any attempt to erode the rights of trans people undermines those values and harms the fabric of our sport.

We will continue to advocate for fair and equal access to rugby and public life for all trans people. Once we have fully reviewed the new Code, we will share our detailed response a level of scrutiny and transparency that the Government itself seems reluctant to embrace.

๐Ÿ‰ ๐ŸŒˆ Honouring Harvey Milk Day

Today, IGR marks Harvey Milk Day, celebrating the life and legacy of one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States and a pioneering voice for LGBTQ+ equality.

Harvey Milk believed in the power of visibility, courage, and community. His message, that everyone deserves to live openly and authentically still resonates today, both in sport and beyond.

Rugby is built on values of respect, integrity, and solidarity. At IGR, we carry those values forward by continuing the work Harvey Milk championed: creating spaces where LGBTQ+ people are not only accepted, but empowered to thrive.

๐ŸŒ We celebrate visibility and representation
๐Ÿค We stand up against discrimination in all its forms
๐Ÿ‰ We work to ensure rugby is a place where everyone can belong

Harvey Milk reminded us that hope will never be silenced. His legacy inspires us to keep pushing for a game and a world where everyone can be proud of who they are.

Together, we honour his impact by continuing to build inclusive, welcoming rugby communities across the globe.
