24th April – Shakespeare and England’s Trees
Here’s a talk with a difference! What trees grew in Shakespeare’s England, and what was happening to them? How do the worlds of Shakespeare’s stage and the English countryside relate? From oak to willow and the magical forests imagined on stage, this talk explores early agroforestry, deforestation and use of trees through Shakespeare’s many references to trees.

Our speaker, Hannah Leigh is a researcher working at Shakespeare’s Globe with an MA in Shakespeare Studies from King’s College London.

Friday evening events start at 7.30pm (arrive from 7.10pm) at the ‘Garden Hall, The Lodge, Honeywood Walk, Carshalton SM5 3NX. Please arrive in plenty of time for the talk to start at 7.30.

Only £4 and includes tea and coffee - no booking required.

Good folk, attend!

On Friday the 24th of April, within the Garden Hall, we present a discourse most rare—of William Shakespeare and England’s trees.

What oaks stood tall in his day? What willows wept? How did the forest and the field shape the poet’s pen, and find their way upon his stage? From Arden’s shade to Birnam Wood’s stirring, we shall wander through a landscape where nature and drama entwine.

Our guide for the evening is Hannah Leigh of Shakespeare’s Globe, a scholar well-versed in these leafy matters.

Join us at the Garden Hall, Ecolocal, The Lodge, Honeywood Walk, where doors open at 7.10pm, and the talk begins at 7.30pm. Pray arrive in good time, that thou may’st be seated with ease.

Entry is but £4, which includes tea and coffee to warm both hand and spirit.
Come, whether thou lov’st playhouse or countryside, and discover how trees once spoke through verse.

An evening of wit, wonder, and woodland awaits.

🌸 Wallington Farmers’ Market – A Spring Morning to Fall in Love With 🌸

This Saturday 11th April, from 9am–1pm, the charming Wallington Farmers' Market returns — and with it, all the gentle pleasures of a perfect spring morning.

Stroll through stalls filled with the season’s finest — crisp salad leaves, fragrant herbs and the first tender asparagus of spring — each one grown with care and bursting with fresh, delicate flavour.

🌱 The Plant Stall
A quiet highlight, and one not to miss. Rows of seedlings and perennials wait patiently to be chosen, each one holding the promise of something beautiful to come. Whether you’re dreaming of colour, fragrance, or simply a garden that feels alive again, you may just find it here.

🛠 Tools for Self Reliance
There’s something rather special about this stall. Beautifully restored second-hand tools, each with a story, ready to begin again in new hands. Practical, purposeful, and part of something bigger — it’s hard not to be drawn in.

Elsewhere, you’ll find artisan breads still warm with possibility, rich cheeses, irresistible sweet treats, and a thoughtful collection of wellbeing products — from soothing skincare to softly scented candles and locally loved lavender.

And drifting through it all, the gentle sound of live jazz in the garden… the perfect accompaniment as you browse, linger, and perhaps lose track of time.

Come along, take it slowly, and enjoy a morning filled with simple pleasures, local treasures, and a little springtime magic. 🌿

🌿 Organic Lawn Care – Saturday 18th April 2026 🌿

You know the sort of lawn we all dream about… soft enough for a picnic, green enough to make next door quietly furious, and not a chemical in sight. Well — here’s your chance.

Join us for a lovely, down-to-earth day at EcoLocal, where we’ll show you how to get your lawn looking properly respectable — the natural way.

Whether your grass is currently more “patchy suggestion” than “pride of the garden”, or you just fancy doing things a bit greener, we’ll guide you through it all — no jargon, no fuss.

🌱 You’ll find out how to:
– bring a tired lawn back to life (without having a breakdown)
– choose the right grass (yes, there are types!)
– deal with moss and weeds without declaring war on them
– make your lawn look lovely — even if it’s a bit… individual
– give it a good spring boost and tuck it in properly for autumn
