Helicopter operations are currently underway at Coquet Lighthouse!

Anchored beside the island, the crew of THV Galatea have been busy at work offloading supplies and equipment for the lighthouse’s ongoing modernisation project.

With more than 40 trips to and from the vessel scheduled for today, our crew and shoreside team are showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork to carry out these complex operations safely and efficiently.

We were delighted to take part in BBC Radio 3’s live broadcast, ‘Where the Light Sings’, on the weekend.

Joining us from inside Dungeness Lighthouse, the Caritas Chamber Choir and accordionist Alise Silina entertained listeners while Mari Mathias and former royal harpist Claire Jones performed live from Strumble Head Lighthouse.

Our very own Field Operations South Technical Manager, Ian, also took part in an interview with presenter Petroc from the top of Bishop Rock Lighthouse as part of the programme (as seen mid-interview in the photo below!)

It was a special day we were able to share with our Scottish and Irish counterparts, the Northern Lighthouse Board and Commissioners of Irish Lights, who opened their own towers for a full day of music.

We are on site at Dungeness Lighthouse as BBC Radio 3 prepares for the start of their programme “Where the Light Sings” in 30 minutes time!

We are delighted to celebrate the official opening of Europa Point Lighthouse to the public!

After months of preparation, in collaboration with the Gibraltar Heritage Trust, the Department of the Environment, the Ministry for Heritage and Wright Tech Ltd, Trinity House is excited to invite visitors to come along and discover the inner workings of the lighthouse.

Alongside Rear Admiral Iain Lower, Deputy Master of Trinity House, and honoured guests, Mr Marc Holland, Acting Deputy Governor of Gibraltar, officially opened the centre earlier today during a special ceremony at the lighthouse.

The lighthouse is open to the public every Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over the past few months, Trinity House cadets Hamish and Harry have been gaining invaluable hands-on experience aboard THV Patricia as part of their cadetship with Just Be Maritime.

From the bridge to the deck and engine room, our crew gave both cadets a firsthand insight into our operations at sea.

“My time onboard THV Patricia was a great experience with the crew all being warm, welcoming and full of experience. They all made a great effort to engage me in different roles and responsibilities while sharing a lot of knowledge – making me feel motivated to work and learn the many things that could help me towards my future role as a junior officer. Support our rowing crew in the Great River Race!

Tomorrow, our Trinity Tide crew will join 220 boats for a 21.6-mile row from Millwall to Ham - all to raise funds for Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre.

Shadwell gives thousands of young people across East London, including many from disadvantaged backgrounds, the chance to experience kayaking, sailing, climbing, mountain biking and leadership training.

Today is Merchant Navy Day, celebrated annually on 3 September as a way to highlight the role played by merchant seafarers, past, present and future.

By flying the Red Ensign, the symbol of the Merchant Navy, we can all express our deep gratitude to those that keep trade moving around the globe.
