🇳🇵 Standing with Nepal

We are delighted to receive support from Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust CIO as we provide humanitarian aid to communities on the ground in Nepal after the devastating floods.

Right now that means emergency food, water, medical supplies and solar lights for families who have lost so much.

Jeff Sissons, trustee of Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust CIO, said: "Ramble Worldwide has operated many walking tours to this area over a long period of time and although we wish the circumstances were different we are proud to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Child Rescue Nepal to provide support at this time."

Our Chair, David Westgate, added: "Donations will go towards supporting vulnerable people on the ground. The contribution by Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust will help hundreds of families and children in the weeks and months to come."

We work with agencies on the ground to rescue trafficked children and help them rebuild their lives.

'Orphaned' by floods, more than 500 Nepali children face uncertain future

More than 500 children are now in shelters, their parents missing or declared dead since the August 26 floods.

It was great for staff and trustees to meet up with Krishna Thapa yesterday from Voice of Children Nepal who was visiting London. We discussed the current flood response, as well as processes for reintegration of rescued children and advocacy opportunities. Lovely food too.

🧡 We're looking for new trustees to help end child slavery in Nepal

Today, there are over 40 million slaves globally – a quarter of whom are children. In Nepal alone, we estimate almost 100,000 children are trapped in hazardous, exploitative labour.

Child Rescue Nepal exists to change that. We rescue children, keep them safe and reunite them with their families – and we've already helped over 1,000 children find their way home. But there's so much more to do, and we want you to help us do it.

We're building our board's experience base and are particularly keen to hear from people with skills in:

🔹 HR
🔹 Strategy and governance
🔹 International development
🔹 Knowledge or lived experience of Nepal

You don't need to have been a charity trustee before. The skills and qualities matter more than prior governance experience, and we'll give you full induction and training to get you up to speed.

The situation in the flood-affected regions is truly terrible. People have lost their homes, their belongings and, in far too many cases, their loved ones.

Thanks to your generosity, we are delivering the first of our relief parcels tomorrow – practical support for one hundred families who have lost everything, including rice, dal, oil, baby formula and medical supplies.

We are also sending solar lights, batteries and warm clothes to help the wider community as the nights turn cold.

Update from Child Rescue Nepal:

Like you all, we have seen the shocking news from Nepal. Devastating flash floods have torn through communities in Rasuwa and Nuwakot — homes, bridges and livelihoods swept away, many lives lost and hundreds of people still missing.

Our staff, the children we work with and their families are safe. The floods have not hit the areas we work in. We are in regular contact with our team in Nepal, who will let us know if there is anything we can usefully do as the response develops.

For now, if you would like to give, we will make sure every donation goes to trusted organisations working on the response in Nepal.
