ITAV Youth FORUM PRESENTS: NJO
THE BLACK HISTORY PROJECT
NOT JUST OCTOBER
We’re pleased to announce our new Black History Project, led and shaped by the It Takes a Village Youth Forum, working alongside Collab Training Academy CIC and our community partners.
This is about giving young people a real voice in how Black history is presented, celebrated and carried forward.
From 10 to 24 September 2026, we’ll transform our community hub into a two-week Black History museum experience, bringing together:
- Black British and local history
- Culture, music, art and food
- Stories from different generations
- Workshops and activities
- Young people’s ideas and creativity
- Community voices, artefacts and lived experiences

And most importantly, NJO means Not Just October. Black history, education and celebration should happen throughout the year.
A big thank you to B- Arts and everybody already supporting the project. We’ll announce our partners, supporters and full programme separately over the coming weeks.

Gaming Drop-In | Every Wednesday | 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm 🎮⚽

Last nights Gaming Drop-In looked a little different. Instead of gaming, we watched the football together. The match hasn’t been the best, but it’s been a good chance for everyone to relax, chat and spend time together.

Back to gaming next Wednesday!

It Takes a Village Community Garden

We’ve made our first planting, a bit late, but still a good start.

Tomatoes, cucumbers, beetroot, radish, sage, lettuce and cauliflower and more are now in.

We’re still looking for volunteers on Thursdays for a couple of hours.

What a fantastic day!
A huge thank you to everyone who attended our first joint Family Fun Day hosted by Collab Training Academy CIC and Cultural Zebra.
The turnout was amazing and the support from families, volunteers, partners and community members was overwhelming. People travelled from across the City to join us, and there are simply too many people to thank individually.
This was a self-funded event built through partnership, community spirit and a shared vision of bringing people together.
Thank you for the conversations, connections, laughter, food, music and positive energy throughout the day.
We're already planning the next one and look forward to seeing you again soon.

It Takes a Village Community Garden

Community Garden & Gaming Hub Support

We’re looking for donation support for equipment for our Community Garden and Gaming Drop-in Hub.

If you’ve got:

* Used or old tools
* Gaming equipment
* Spare controllers or consoles
* Any equipment sitting around

We’ll take it.

Nothing fancy. If it works, it helps.

This is all self-funded and goes straight back into supporting young people and the community.
