What does "optimal health" actually mean to you? Is it having energy that lasts all day? Sleeping deeply? Never getting sick? Or simply feeling good in your body?

Drop your answer in the comments β€” I'll read every one. πŸ‘‡

What does "optimal health" actually mean to you? Is it having energy that lasts all day? Sleeping deeply? Never getting sick? Or simply feeling good in your body? Most of us have been taught that health is the absence of illness. If nothing's technically "wrong," we're fine. But Traditional Chinese....

A recent feature in the New York Times Magazine has set the wellness world buzzing. The article, "Inside the Interstitium, the Human Body's Hidden Pathways," explores a quietly extraordinary discovery in modern anatomy: a vast, body-wide network of fluid-filled channels woven through your connective tissue, running beneath the skin, around organs, and along muscles. Scientists are calling it the interstitium β€” and it may be the missing piece in understanding why acupuncture works. Read our recent blog to find out more about the modern research discovery that traditional Chinese Medicine has known for centuries.

Acupuncture proven to clear "chemo brain" in groundbreaking clinical trial 🧠✨

Up to 40% of breast cancer survivors experience "chemo brain" β€” the frustrating fog of fuzzy thinking, memory lapses, and poor concentration that lingers long after treatment ends. For many women, it becomes one of the most persistent and under-acknowledged hurdles on the road to recovery.

Now, a landmark Phase 2 clinical trial from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre has shown that acupuncture can genuinely help β€” not just in how patients feel, but in how their brains actually perform.

The ENHANCE trial enrolled 260 breast cancer survivors (average age 56) who had completed treatment and were struggling with cognitive difficulties and insomnia. Over 10 weeks, participants received either real acupuncture, sham acupuncture, or usual care.

The results:

βœ… Both real and sham acupuncture groups reported clinically meaningful improvements in perceived cognitive function β€” more than double the improvement seen in usual care

βœ… Only real acupuncture produced measurable gains on objective cognitive tests (the Hopkins Verbal Learning Test), with a 4-point advantage over sham acupuncture that held firm at 26 weeks

βœ… In patients with impaired objective function at the start, real acupuncture showed a particularly promising trend in improving memory

❓Why did sham acupuncture also improve how patients felt? Lead researcher Dr Jun J. Mao explains: the relaxation, personal attention, and sense of being cared for during sessions all contribute to wellbeing β€” but only real acupuncture produced the deeper neurological changes reflected in standardised testing. Brain scan research supports this β€” acupuncture appears to directly stimulate areas of the brain involved in memory, attention, and learning.

From a TCM perspective, this is no surprise. Cancer treatment profoundly depletes Kidney Jing, Heart Blood, and Spleen Qi β€” the foundations of mental clarity and cognitive function. Rebuilding these systems is central to what we do at Health Tree Acupuncture.

Western medicine is now confirming what Traditional Chinese Medicine has understood for thousands of years.

🌿 Whether you're recovering from cancer treatment, or dealing with brain fog from stress, hormonal changes, or chronic illness β€” acupuncture offers real, evidence-based support.

Acupuncture Proven to Clear "Chemo Brain" 🧠

Up to 40% of breast cancer survivors experience "chemo brain" β€” fuzzy thinking, memory lapses, and poor concentration that lingers long after treatment ends.

A groundbreaking Phase 2 clinical trial from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre has now shown that acupuncture doesn't just improve how survivors feel β€” it measurably improves how their brains actually perform on objective cognitive tests.

260 women. 10 weeks. Real results.

Participants receiving real acupuncture showed more than double the cognitive improvement of usual care β€” and were the only group to show gains on standardised memory and learning tests, benefits that held firm at 26 weeks.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, this makes complete sense. Cancer treatment depletes the very foundations of mental clarity β€” Kidney Jing, Heart Blood, and Spleen Qi. Restoring these is at the heart of what we do.

Western science is catching up to what Chinese medicine has known for thousands of years. 🌿

πŸ”₯ Are you noticing these subtle signs your metabolism might be struggling? πŸ”₯

Your metabolism does so much more than manage weight β€” it’s the engine behind how your body balances energy, blood sugar, hormones, and more. Sometimes it sends signals long before a full-blown issue shows up in blood tests. πŸ‘€

In our latest blog we explore 4 possible signs of struggling metabolic health β€” and what you can do about them:

✨ Persistent fatigue even after rest
✨ Feeling thirsty or needing to p*e more than
usual
✨ Difficulty losing weight despite efforts
✨ Changes in skin texture or pigmentation

None of these automatically mean something is β€œwrong,” but they are worth paying attention to. Early awareness can help you make small tweaks that support long-term wellbeing β€” from diet and movement to stress and sleep.

Is your metabolic health struggling?

Your metabolism plays an important role in how your body manages energy, blood sugar, fats, and hormones. When metabolic health is struggling, the body often gives early signals.
