💙 September is Su***de Prevention Month.

At Vision Ability, we believe people should receive accessible, compassionate mental health support before they reach crisis point.

Vision Ability is proud to be a satellite partner in the Tower Hamlets Domestic Abuse and Mental Health Partnership. As part of this project, we held community coffee mornings where blind and visually impaired residents could connect, talk openly and share their experiences.

Through these conversations, we identified a clear need for emotional support delivered by an organisation the community already knows, trusts and feels safe approaching.

In direct response, we developed our Talk & Support Service—a new pilot programme providing a safe, familiar and understanding space for blind and visually impaired people to talk, feel heard and access support.

Support is available in English, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi.

♿ Community voices helping shape accessible transport

Today, our founder Owais Niaz worked alongside One Place East at an important engagement session focused on Transport for London Dial-A-Ride service and accessible transport.

Members had the opportunity to share their experiences directly, raise concerns and discuss some of the challenges they face when using accessible transport services.

Owais also met Tony Marson, Managing Director of ComCab London; Alan McDonald, Taxicard Account Manager at ComCab London; Brian Gordon, Travel Mentor Manager for TfL; and Caren Rogers from Dial-a-Ride.

At Vision Ability, we know that accessible and reliable transport plays a vital role in independence, inclusion and enabling disabled and visually impaired people to participate fully in their communities.

A huge thank you to One Place East, everyone involved in the session, and especially the members who shared their lived experiences and views.

We hope the feedback gathered through this consultation helps shape meaningful improvements to services for disabled Londoners. 💛

🪂 Supporting Jerri's 15,000ft Skydive Challenge
At Vision Ability, we love celebrating the achievements of blind and visually impaired people who challenge perceptions and inspire others.
Jerri is taking on an incredible 15,000ft skydive to raise funds for the work of the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind.
Living with sight loss doesn't stop people from pursuing ambitious goals, taking on exciting challenges, or giving back to their communities—and Jerri is a fantastic example of that.
