St. Peters Community Wellbeing Projects It is governed by the regulation set out in the Constitution and run by a voluntary Executive Committee who are also trustee.

* Objectives of the Charity:

The objectives for which the charity is established are particularly but not exclusively, for the benefit of people of BME origin living in the Bethnal Green area of Tower Hamlets and Hackney (“areas of benefit”) for the purpose of carrying out such of the following purpose (“the objects”) as are charitable:

(a) Advancement of education and training;
(b) Relief of

poverty and the need by the provision of advice, information, guidance and support with a view to helping people meet their own needs and improving their conditions of life. (c) Protection and preservation of health and wellbeing of the elderly people of the community;
(d) Provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of financial hardship, need, infirmity, disablement, age or social or economic circumstances or the public at large with the object of improving their conditions of life.

* Structure, Governance and Management of the Charity:

The charity is constituted by a Constitution. The committee members are elected at the Annual General Meeting. Executive Committee members are normally briefed by Chairperson and the General Secretary in order to familiarise themselves with the rules, regulations and responsibilities of the charity. The Executive Committee met 5 times during the year to review the activities of the charity including the approval of the annual report and accounts as well as budgets, capital expenditure and to set out the fund raising date for the charity. The day to day work of the charity is overseen by the Chairperson who is responsible to and reports to the Executive Committee. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS FOR THE YEAR 2015-16

The Executive Committee are pleased to report an active and successful year. Over the last 12 months Projects has organised and delivered the following activities:

Exercise and Fitness Sessions for Elderly Women:
• We ran Exercise and Fitness sessions for 42 weeks in total, twice a week, totalling 84 hour-long sessions, for elderly women who cannot access mainstream services due to linguistic, age-related or other barriers.
• We have organised a 12 week programme part funded by Greater London Authority- Mayor of London, called Winter –Spring FreeSport 2016.
• We arranged further 12 week programme of Exercise and Fitness Classes supported by East End Community Foundation.
• We have secured further 20 weeks part funding to continue our fitness and exercise sessions starting from March 2016 from Wakefield and Tetley Trust. Healthy Cooking and Healthy Eating Club:
• We ran Healthy Cooking and Healthy Eating Club for 42 weeks in total, twice a week for local women through the contribution from the users and part funded by Tower Hamlets Community Housing Limited. ICT and ESOL Classes:
• We have organised ICT with English drop – in sessions for Bangladeshi Women, with a bi-lingual tutor for 26 weeks, once a week.
• We offered free computer and Internet access to local women, available to use during Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10.30 am to 2.30 pm..
• We ran a 12 weeks Managing My Bills Online workshop series supported by Tower Hamlets Community Housing.
• We hosted an Introduction to Basic Computing event for Get Online Week 2015, supported by Tower Hamlets Community Housing. Workshops and Events:
• A 8 week self-management workshop “Manage My Health” was delivered in association with Social Action for Health
• We hosted Easter Celebration in April 2015 with members, users and local stake holders
• We hosted Bengali New Year Party in April 2015 with members, users and local stake holders
• In June 2015, we participated in Big Lunch Picnic 2015 organised by Tower Hamlets Community Housing.
• We hosted Christmas Party in December 2015 with members, users and local stake holders
• We hosted Eid-Ul-Fitr and Eid-Ul-Adha Parties in 2015 with members, users and local stake holders
• In January 2016 we hosted an Open Day event to attract new members where more than 60 local women and stakeholders participated. Networking:
• Worked in partnership with Well London Old Bethnal Green Project (Health & Wellbeing, and ICT project work)
• We networked with other local groups including Well London, Our Variety Club, Mohila Ongon, Bright Stars- Parents & Toddler Group, Little Pearls Nursery, Bethnal Green Montessori School to create community based links, attract new members, create referral opportunities etc.
