NEWBORN AND SMALL BABY SAFETY:
Slings carry a risk of suffocation with newborns and small babies and though it is a very manageable risk with information/support, parents are often shown unsafe babywearing images created by brands and their influencers. It is true that many slings manufacturers have 0 Babywearing training, with many of them not even mildly interested in consulting sling consultants to help them create safety materials or ensuring their images show safe babywearing.
As a clueless parent, you might not know what/who to trust, what is safe and what is unsafe. We understand. Inform yourself about how to safely use a sling much like you would learn how to safely use a car seat, pram etc…
As a sling consultant, we are getting increasingly frustrated by the carelessness of certain brands.
Please always seek advice from your local sling library if you need a fit check or to learn about safe carrying. We love helping!

This is your warm invitation to the Tower Hamlets Family Meet Up on Thursday 4th of June 10.30am-1pm E14
Come and join us for a lovely morning of ‘bumps, birth and beyond’ chats over a cuppa as well as sling support from your favourite sling library!

This month we have several perinatal professionals joining us:
💆‍♀️ offering free mini-massages to the pregnant and new mums, what a treat!
😴 Kerry here to chat all things infant sleep.
🤱 Barbara breastfeeding consultant, tongue tie specialist and midwife here to offer breastfeeding support.
👶Amazing sling consultant volunteers Jazz and Martha coming alongside me here to offer sling support.
We can fit check your slings, try a couple of options with you and chat all things babywearing.
You can also hire slings on the day. Please let me know if you want to try something in particular. Please be aware that the meet is usually quite busy so we can’t offer long consultations.

♻️SWAP SHOP: bring your outgrown baby/pregnancy clothes to donate or swap!
No need to donate to take, you can take as much as you want. We have a ton of clothes so please take as much as you can!!

🤰👶👨‍👨‍👧‍👦👩‍👩‍👧👨‍👩‍👦🏳️‍🌈This group is for all expectant and new parents, those with babies and toddlers (no need to live in TH).
We welcome ALL families.
This is a safe space for you to share the ups and downs of parenting, make friends, laugh, cry and talk.

📍 June 11th, 18th and 25th Bethnal Green Sling Library at The Canvas St. Margaret's House E2 10am-1pm: 20mins 1-0-1/paired consultations/mini group sessions for your all your sling needs, booking ESSENTIAL, fee applies.

📍June 11th Mother and Baby Sharing Circle at The Canvas E2, 1.30pm-2.30pm (after the sling library), for new and expectant mothers and birthing parents. A safe space to talk about your feeling and experience of motherhood and matrescence in a supportive environment.

-10am Nappy demo with Hackney Real Nappy Network

Cloth nappy demo just arrive at 10am.

It’s finally happening, the weather is getting warm! 🤩🕶️

Here are my top tips for Babywearing in the hot weather ☀️
We have lots of cooler slings and carriers ready for hire, head over to my sling inventory on my website (link in comments)
Sling pick-ups available at HQ (my place in Bethnal Green) or I can post.
If you’re not sure what you want, book in at the Bethnal Green sling library (link below).

Also remember NOT to cover prams!! This raises the temperature dangerously.

Going from front to back with a buckle carrier: the ‘1 arm in 1 arm out’ technique

I like this back carrying technique as it’s very safe (as long as you keep your carrier as tight as possible) and works well with wriggly babies and anxious parents ❤️

It works with the great majority of buckle carriers that offer a back carry option. Make sure you start with straight straps and chest strap clipped in.

Come see us if you want support! Learning to back carry can be a bit nerve-wracking. We’re here to support you 🥰
