Greeks are pi**ed. Why? Because Somalia’s Speaker publicly recognised reality.

He thanked Dr Ziya Öztürkler by calling him what he is. Speaker of the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

That one sentence was enough to send the Greek side into panic mode.

Why?

Because they have spent decades trying to bury the name of our state.

Trying to reduce Turkish Cypriots to a “community”.

Trying to pretend the Greek side represents the whole island.

They hate seeing KKTC spoken out loud in international diplomacy.

Good.

Let them be angry.
Let them complain.
Let them issue statements.

Every correct title used.
Every official contact.
Every public reference to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus weakens the isolation regime they built against our people.

Now let’s show Somalia’s Speaker that Turkish Cypriots noticed too.

Please go to his X account, thank him personally and show your support for recognising our people and our state by its proper name.

Hey! look at this…

What if I told you the UN itself was documenting the Cyprus crisis years before 1974… and almost nobody talks about it?

Most people have never heard of the Osorio-Tafall Reports.

Between 1970 and 1973, B. F. Osorio-Tafall, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus, submitted a series of reports to the UN Security Council. They recorded a Cyprus that was still divided by mistrust, where Turkish Cypriots continued living with isolation, restrictions, humanitarian hardship and political deadlock.

The reports don’t describe a country that had returned to normal. In fact, they repeatedly concluded that UN peacekeepers were still essential because the situation remained unresolved.

The message is simple...

The Cyprus crisis did not begin in 1974. The UN’s own reports show it was already an ongoing crisis, nearly a decade after 1963.

Don’t take my word for it.

Israeli military data reportedly identifies 112 serving personnel who also hold Turkish citizenship. Türkiye has now warned that citizens who join a foreign army without state approval may face investigation and even loss of citizenship under existing law.

Türkiye is right to take this seriously.

For Turkish Cypriots, this is not some distant argument. The Greek Cypriot administration is deepening its military relationship with Israel through weapons purchases, joint exercises and formal defence cooperation.

That creates an obvious security question for the TRNC. Anyone who has served in the Israeli military and later lives, works or moves freely in Northern Cyprus should be identified and properly assessed. We cannot ignore foreign military loyalties while Israel is building an increasingly close strategic partnership with the Greek side.

Türkiye is drawing a necessary line. The TRNC should be ready to protect its own soil with the same seriousness.

Some still claim that Turkish Cypriots simply “appeared” on the island, like mushrooms it rained.

History says otherwise.

This is Mehmed Kâmil Pasha, born in Lefkoşa, Cyprus in the 1830s.

He went on to become one of the Ottoman Empire’s greatest statesmen, serving as Governor of the Aydın Vilayet before being appointed Grand Vizier, the Empire’s highest political office, four separate times.

Think about that for a moment.

A man born in Cyprus rose to lead one of the world’s largest empires nearly 150 years ago.

Yet some still try to pretend Turkish Cypriots are recent arrivals with no roots on the island.

You don’t become Grand Vizier because you “appeared like a mushroom after it rained.”

Greeks & Turk haters cannot simply rewrite centuries of history with slogans…

Turkish Cypriots are not people that suddenly sprang up overnight. We are a historic people with centuries of continuous presence, contribution and identity in Cyprus.

History remembers. Even when some choose not to…
