As a passionate teacher and countryman, Will is also excited about the potential of our new Angling and the Countryside qualification, which brings together his love of teaching, fishing and the natural world.

It was a fantastic day – and a chance to recognise the confidence, skills and experiences they had gained along the way. 🎣

For some, it may be an experience they would otherwise not have the opportunity to enjoy.

To be considered for a school place on our 2026/27 scheme, schools and educational provisions have until Monday 9 November to apply⏱️

Places are limited, and we expect demand to be high. Schools will be notified of their application outcome from December 2026.

🎣 Fishing can mean something different to everyone.

For some young people, it can be a chance to try something new. For others, it can be time away from the classroom, a chance to be outdoors, or simply a moment to slow down.

As one Fishing for Schools student told us:

“It felt like it was time just for me.”

This World Mental Health Day, we’re highlighting the many ways fishing can support young people’s wellbeing – one cast at a time. 🌿🎣

Our Angling & the Countryside qualification pilot is underway🌱

Since September, schools and specialist education settings have been piloting our new Angling & the Countryside qualification, giving young people the opportunity to build on their practical angling experience while developing knowledge and skills in areas such as aquatic ecology, water quality and habitat care.

We’re looking forward to following the progress of the pilot and hearing from the schools and learners taking part as we work towards a wider rollout.
