Founders Friday - Kathy Coe, MBE
Sadly domestic abuse numbers continue to rise and all sorts of things can affect the numbers. We have seen recently that younger people can be involved in sexual violence. In Staffordshire approximately 24,000 women and 10,000 men report domestic abuse in a year. Where 31% of reported victims are male, 72% of offenders were male. 8595 children, including those reporting in their family setting or in their own relationships, were also reporting as victims.
I think that we will all have been shocked to hear that the two young boys convicted of gang rapes did not receive custodial sentences recently. The judge said that they were too young to be criminalised, and also that they had low IQs. The message that gives to young men who are so inclined is that they can get away with violence against women and girls. I really hope that this decision is reviewed and overturned because what message does this send to all women about reporting rapes.
It is awful that women and girls who have been r***d are treated so badly by the justice system. Their chances of having a guilty verdict are less than 3%, and they may have to wait up to 5 years to even get to court.
We have to keep campaigning and fighting to change this. Those young girls, and every woman and girl who reports, need to feel treated with respect and fairness and they need to get justice.
Lichfield District Council and Burntwood Town Council have both signed up to the White Ribbon Campaign. Please sign up to their newsletter if you are interested in keeping in touch or finding out more about the campaign, whose theme is 'It takes all of us'.
If you have been a victim of abuse and would like to talk to someone, you can talk to Pathway. You don't have to have reported it, that is completely your decision, but please call us and we can offer you support. Our helpline is 01543 676800.

A heartfelt thank you to the Sheriff for choosing us as their charity of choice. It has been an honour to be part of this year’s journey. And sincere thanks to everyone who organised, supported, and attended the Sheriff’s Ride 2025 for making it such a memorable and successful event. ✨

It was a lovely experience attending the Sheriff’s Ride Launch, filled with tradition and community spirit. It was a pleasure to meet the new Mayor and see the newly appointed Junior Mayor, and to learn more about the event’s rich history. 🩷

What an absolutely incredible Lichfield Bower 🎉🌼

From the vibrant parade to the buzzing streets filled with music, and community spirit, this year’s event truly reminded us what makes Lichfield so special. Seeing so many familiar faces, alongside new ones, come together to celebrate was nothing short of magical.

A huge and heartfelt thank you to our amazing sponsors, White House Print & Design Ltd, The Saxon Hill Craft Barn and Hutchings Civil & Hire LTD💛
Your generous support makes events like this possible, helping us to create something truly memorable. We’re so grateful for your commitment to our community.

To our incredible volunteers, you are the heart and soul of the Bower 👏 Your time, energy, and enthusiasm shine through in every detail, from the creation of the Bower Float props by Sunshine Hearts with Charlie to helping throughout the day and walking with us despite the hot weather. This event simply couldn’t happen without you, and we appreciate you more than words can say.

Thank you to Hyden and Sarah from Central Co-op Food fosseway and Caz and Ellie from Soroptimist Lichfield and District for coming to support us in the parade and at our stall. Your support was invaluable.

A huge thank you to our wonderful clients who are being supported by our Refuge and Outreach services for creating the wonderful flowers in the 35 prop.

And finally, a massive shoutout to our dedicated staff 🌟 Your tireless work behind the scenes, planning, organising, and delivering such a fantastic day. You made everything run seamlessly, and it truly shows.
Here’s to an unforgettable Lichfield Bower. We’re already counting down to the next one! 🎶
