🎶 Lichfield Festival of Music 2026 - When are the classes? 🎶

We’re really excited to start to see the 2026 Lichfield Festival of Music come together, even though we’re still a few months away!

To help you plan well in advance, here’s a simple overview of when each section will take place:

🎹 Piano Classes

- Saturday 12th September – adult piano classes (18+), including beginner and non-competitive classes (18+), plus open classes (duet, sonata and recital)
- Saturday 19th September – piano solo classes for ages 10–11
- The remaining under-18s piano solo and duet classes (including beginner and non-competitive) will be shared across both Saturdays 12th and 19th - please keep both dates free.

🎤 Vocal Classes

- Saturday 12th September – adult vocal classes (18+), including open duet and non-competitive classes (18+)
- Saturday 19th September – under-18s vocal classes, including duet and non-competitive classes

🎶 Choral Classes

- Saturday 12th September – all choral classes (including non-competitive)

🎻 Instrumental Classes (Solo & Ensemble)

- Saturday 26th September – all instrumental classes (including non-competitive)

At the 2026 Lichfield Festival of Music, our vocal classes celebrate this diversity, welcoming singers of all ages and musical backgrounds.

📅 Saturday 12th September
Adult vocal classes (18+), including open duet and non-competitive classes.

📅 Saturday 19th September
Under-18 vocal classes, including duet and non-competitive classes.

🎶 We offer classes across a wide range of styles, including:

Classical • Musical Theatre • Popular • Folk Song • Lieder • Opera & Operetta

In 2026, we’re be expanding our non-competitive offering to better support both younger and adult singers.

🏆 With 13 trophies sponsored, we’re almost a quarter of the way to realising our ambition of presenting a trophy in all 56 competitive classes! But we desperately need more!

One of the most special moments in each class is the presentation of a trophy - a simple, lasting reminder of a performer’s hard work and dedication.

In 2025, the first year of our Trophy Sponsor scheme, we were able to offer trophies in almost half of our Festival classes.

In 2026, we would love to go one step further…
🏆 …to offer a winner’s trophy in all 56 competitive classes!

For just £25, you can sponsor a trophy and play a small but meaningful part in that moment.

✨ Trophies can be sponsored:

- In your own name or as a family
- On behalf of a business or organisation
- In memory of a loved one
- Or quietly, anonymously

Each trophy is engraved and kept by the winner - a keepsake they may treasure for years to come.

As a Trophy Sponsor, you will also be acknowledged in our Festival materials and programme.

⏰ Just 3 weeks to go until entries close for this year’s Lichfield Festival of Music!

The summer term has a way of gathering speed once June arrives, and suddenly the closing date feels much closer than it first seemed.

Whether you’re entering as an individual performer, a teacher, a school, or an ensemble, now is the moment to be finalising plans and securing your entries for this year’s Festival.

A helpful reminder that you don’t need to complete everything in one sitting. Entries can be added to your basket at any time and submitted later, which makes the process especially straightforward for teachers and schools coordinating multiple performers.

As we move into the final few weeks, entries are now very much in progress, and we’re looking forward to welcoming musicians of all ages and stages as we build towards the Festival’s 50th anniversary in 2027.

🎶 If you’re planning to take part, now is the time to get started - don’t leave it until the final rush.

Our Choral Classes at the Lichfield Festival of Music continue to provide a welcoming space for choirs and ensembles to share their work in a supportive and appreciative setting.

📅 Saturday 12th September
All choral classes (including non-competitive)

🎶 We continue to offer:

- Choirs and ensembles of up to 35 singers
- Junior (18 and under) and senior (18 and over) groups
- A non-competitive class open to all

✨ For 2026, these much-loved classes remain unchanged - continuing a tradition that many look forward to each year.

🎶 We are delighted to be welcoming four outstanding musicians and educators as adjudicators for the 2026 Festival.

Across our September Festival, we are joined by:

✨ Kathryn Page
✨ Sarah Jefferies
✨ Nancy Litten
✨ Steven Roberts

Each brings with them a wealth of experience as performers, teachers, and adjudicators - from international concert stages and broadcasts, to classrooms, choirs, and examination boards.

Together, they represent a breadth of musical knowledge across piano, voice, instrumental performance, and choral music, along with many years of supporting festivals and nurturing performers of all ages and abilities.

Their insight, encouragement, and thoughtful feedback are such an important part of what makes a Festival experience both memorable and meaningful - and we feel incredibly fortunate to have them with us.

We very much look forward to welcoming them to Lichfield this September.

Our friends at The Palace Singers have another eclectic concert coming up at Lichfield Methodist Church on Saturday 11th July, 7:30pm, and I’m sure they’d be delighted to see you there 🎶

Our next concert is coming up soon, this time at the Methodist Church on Tamworth Street in the city centre, and the choir is sounding in good form under Liam's superb direction!
