Visably British Wireless for the Blind Fund is now Visably. For nearly 100 years, we've helped people with sight loss tune back into their world.

We get the right technology into the hands of people who need it and stay until it clicks. Visably supports people living with sight loss. Friends, neighbours, colleagues who make today fuller and tomorrow better just by being in it. We’re a small charity with a big heart and an even bigger community beside us, working together for nearly 100 years. We get the best sight loss technology into the hands of people who need it and stay until it clicks – growing confidence, connection and independence for every tomorrow.

Visably isn't about tech.

It's about lives with sight loss made wider, brighter and fuller every day.

It's the weather forecast over breakfast. A reminder to take medication. A favourite radio programme. A call to the grandchildren. The confidence to say, “I can.”

It's and sight loss is on the up. 👆

In fact, experts say it's set to double by 2050. While research into better eye health continues, life with sight loss remains a reality for millions up and down the UK.

And, as more people are diagnosed, the demand for our support only grows. This October we're asking if you could help us stand ready to help everyone who needs us.

Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the most profound ways you can make a difference for people with sight loss long into the future. It means that the next generation will be able to reach us, connect with a volunteer and find the confidence to use tech that opens up their world.

Could you help create a world that's wider and brighter, for all of us?

"One donation can change someone’s day. Giving regularly can change someone’s future."

The monthly gift John gives to Visably unlocks confidence, independence and joy for people with sight loss, through free tech and the belief to use it.

This October marks . The perfect time to think about how we can all shape a future that's wider and brighter for people living with sight loss, and for all of us.

Could you be the person who makes it click? 💛

We’re looking for lovely people to join us as Visably volunteers.

It might be helping someone feel confident using tech. Sharing your own lived experience with someone who needs to know they’re not alone. Or welcoming people at one of our community hubs.

Whatever the role, you’ll be part of our warm, friendly team, helping people living with sight loss find those all-important “I can” moments.

We’ll give you training, support and a team behind you. You bring what you can.

Could that be you?

Catherine loves the simple things. A good book. An evening listening to music or the radio. And, whenever she can, spending time with her grandchildren.

So, when she recently updated her Will, Catherine's thoughts turned to what kind of future she wanted to create. For her family and the causes she cares about. That's when Visably came to mind...

A gift in her Will to Visably was Catherine's way of shaping a happier, fairer world. To mark Will Writing Month this October, she's sharing her own journey, from feeling apprehensive about where to start and who to include, to peace of mind knowing her Will reflects what matters most to her.

“It really is the way forward.”

That’s what Mary’s daughter told us when she got in touch to share the difference our support has made to her 93-year-old mum who lives with sight loss.

We're here to help people with sight loss discover what tech can make possible, with the support and confidence to make it work for them.

Image description: A quote from Mary’s daughter is displayed in dark purple text on a pale yellow background. It reads: “Thank you so much for what you have provided for my mother. It really is the way forward." A large dark purple quotation mark sits in the top right corner.

The nights might be drawing in, but life doesn’t have to. 🍂

Tech can open up everyday possibilities for people living with sight loss - whether that’s listening to a favourite book, keeping in touch with family, finding information or doing something independently.

We help people find the tech that works for them, and stay until it clicks.

A glimpse into where our story began.

Nearly 100 years ago, as the British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF), we provided free wireless sets to blind people across the UK.

This photograph, taken in the late 1920s, captures some of those sets being delivered by volunteers.

Today, the technology may look different, but our purpose at Visably continues: helping people with sight loss stay connected to the world around them.

Image description: A black-and-white historical photograph shows men in suits unloading boxes of wireless radio sets from a delivery vehicle. The boxes are labelled “British Wireless for the Blind Fund” and “Let the Blind Hear.” Below the photograph, text reads: “Our story began providing free radios to blind people. Nearly 100 years later, we continue that connection through technology.”

We've been on the road as Visably for the first time!

Steve and Adam have had a busy day chatting to countless incredible people at the first ever Sight Village event in North Wales.

For nearly 100 years we've been getting the best tech of the day into the hands of people living with sight loss. And we're creating new services that mean we'll soon be doing more than ever to build belief and confidence with tech - tailored to you, face-to-face, until it clicks.

Huge shout out to all the lovely people we met today. 💛

Meet Meg.

New to Visably – and on a mission to help make worlds wider and lives brighter through tech.

And here we are, our small yet mighty team, gathered together around the table (with plenty of tea). A team full of ideas, experience and determination to make a difference to the lives of people living with sight loss.

We’re getting ready to:

-Pilot new ways to help people with sight loss get more from technology
-Bring more brilliant volunteers into our community
-Create many more of those all-important ‘I can’ moments

There’s a lot to look forward to – more support, more opportunities to get involved, and more ways to help people find the tech that works for them and the confidence to make it click.

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on. Watch this space. 👀
