We have been supported by the staff and parents of Mead Open Farm Nursery for several years with donations of seasonal confectionery at Christmas and Easter and this year, despite the considerable increase in the cost of chocolate, we have again received an amazing array of Easter Eggs.
Organising the donation, Kimberly Gilkes, yet again ensured that children of families facing unexpected financial problems (and there are many who are) will receive an Easter chocolate treat.
With almost 200 Easter Eggs, we have been able to donate a number to a local school for families who deserve help at what is becoming a very challenging time. Many are being added to food parcels being issued next week.
Thank you to all who contributed to the donation, your generosity and kindness will provide relief to parents and chocolate joy to many children and chocolate loving adults.
Special thanks to the extraordinary Kim Gilkes who is the driving force behind this generous donation.

A huge thank you for an amazing donation presented today by pupils of St Leonard’s Academy, Heath and Reach.
The extraordinary amount of £400 was raised through the school’s weekly tuck shop.
It was kindly donated to support families and individuals in need of help with food and other essentials. The idea of making the donation to our Foodbank came from the School Council, members of which presented the donation today.
The thoughtfulness behind this donation exemplifies the ethos and values of the school, explained very clearly by a member of the School Council.
Thank you to all involved in organising this generous donation. We are only too aware, things are going to get difficult in coming weeks with rising prices; this donation will ease the worries of many people.

January can be a challenging month. The cost of food continues to rise. So, it is important that we thank all who remember the January challenge for many families.
Our local supermarkets, Tesco and Morrisons, provide donation points for shoppers to donate food and other essential items.
We are very appreciative for this help and truly believe that many families in our community could not get through this first month of the year without the support of supermarket shoppers who generously donate. Thank you.

There are some very generous people within our community of Leighton Linslade but some individuals stand out as being incredible examples of kindness and compassion.
Les Osborn wanted, three years ago, for his family to buy food for the Foodbank rather than they buy him presents.
Inspired by her father’s action, his daughter Erika Chamberlain has this year, as she did last year, saved money to purchase Tesco gift cards to be given to families in need. Today she visited Delta House to deliver £300 worth of gift cards.
Her whole family has been involved.
Thank you so much Erika. Thanks also to your family and particularly to Les, your father, who gets a little muddled every now and then, fears the dark but has the clarity of mind to know he wants to help others.
Erika, you and your family have provided help and reassurance to many people in our community. We hope you all enjoy a wonderful Christmas.

Deliveries have begun to provide Christmas fare and festive treats to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
We thank Allie, matron of Basset Road surgery and her colleagues for helping in identifying patients who will enjoy one of our special Christmas baskets.
The delight in one gentleman in his late 80s was a joy to behold with similar reports by volunteers of the very positive response received when the baskets were delivered along with a gift donated by the staff of Basset Road surgery.
Thank you to all involved in helping with organisation and deliveries.

£500 was donated today by representatives of the amazing village of Stewkley.
The people who visited us today, Steve, John, Lynsey and another person who couldn’t come today, Hannah, have created, every year, a spectacular Santa event that provides entertainment and fun for everyone as well as encouraging extraordinary generosity.
Santa journeyed through the village on Saturday evening with Stewkley Elves accompanying his sleigh and Rudolph’s bright red nose leading the way. The creativity and skill in the making of the sleigh is spectacular. The generosity is of equal measure.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed in the work involved and who participated in helping Santa (there were many wonderful elves). Along with the huge cash donation there was 15 carrier bags of food!
Such events only succeed with tremendous hard work and commitment to detail and we thank all involved most sincerely.
Your generosity and kindness will be felt by many people who will be facing financial challenges during the winter months. Thank you.

It is Christmas, the season of giving and caring for others. Today, delivered by Carol who epitomises kindness, 60 carrier bags of food and other essential items highlighted the immense generosity of Cheddington Village.
Every year, we receive such amazing support from Cheddington. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Stock is now boosted for post Christmas food parcels. Your kindness will be appreciated by families and individuals who continue to struggle with financial hardship.

Christmas food parcels have been enhanced today by an array of festive treats thanks to the staff and parents of Mead Open Farm Nursery. We cannot believe the generosity of this donation, especially as we realise the increase in the cost of chocolate. Organised again by the incredible Kim, we would like to thank everyone who contributed, we truly appreciate this generous contribution to our Foodbank. And a special thank you for the dedicated support provided every festive season by Kimberly Gilkes.

What an amazing array of Easter chocolate eggs was given to us when we arrived at Mead Open Farm Day Nursery, this morning. The collection was even bigger than previous years with over 116 eggs of all types being donated by parents and staff of the nursery. We are extremely grateful to all who donated and know that families in our community will be grateful for help in providing Easter goodies for their children. Thank you Kim, for once again being so supportive and pro-active in organising this donation; you can be assured there will be many people who will be very appreciative of your kindness.

We would like to thank all volunteers who support our charity, LLHS, and who today, Christmas Day, helped to prepare, cook and deliver to people in our community, who are rather vulnerable and for one reason or another, were alone today, with a hot Christmas dinner and festive tea, in one of our Christmas Boxes.
*Thank you Allie, Matron at Basset Road Doctors' Surgery for your dedication and beautifully wrapped gifts you added for patients you and your colleagues nominated.
This service would be impossible to offer without the dedicated support of volunteers, some who work with LLHS on a regular basis, others who choose to help at Christmas. The thank you notes we received (and were returned by volunteers who had delivered a box, which was very kind) highlight the difference it makes to people. Two of whom who were only recently offered accommodation after many months without a home. Their response was a delight to witness.
Thank you to all who support our charity.

Just before school broke up for Christmas, we got a call from Reception teacher, Jane, from Clipstone Brook Lower School. She had organised a collection of food and extras, together with members of Sliming World who meet at the school every week. As we said in a previous post, the stories behind the donations we receive, are all different. Lesley, who leads the Slimming World group, said members would donate every week food and toiletries. Jane explained that parents had been very supportive donating food. Altogether, we were delighted to receive the donation, knowing, as we close for a period over Christmas and New Year, that our stock will be replenished.
Volunteers are now preparing for Christmas Day when we cook meals for people who have been nominated to us because they would find cooking a little difficult.
Our Foodbank will reopen in the New Year.
