WE NEED YOU!
I can't tell you how often I am asked about local childminders....atleast once a week!
I have multiple families on my waiting list who would like their children to join Windmill but require "after hours" childcare post 3pm. This is not something we are able to offer (at this time)

As an ex childminder myself, I can totally vouch for what a lovely, rewarding job it is, (especially whilst your own children are little!)

I only did it for a year before taking up the manager role here at Windmill but I would have happily carried on longer! (Back in 2018 there were soooooooooooo many wonderful local childminders, we even had our own toddler group each week!) But now there are NONE!
I am more than happy to have a discussion with anyone who is interested in becoming a childminder, please do get in touch and i'll also happily put you in touch with the many families on roll who are actively looking for regular childcare.

Thank you in advance,
Emma

“Emma’s workaversary”

8 WONDERFUL years as manager (now area manager!) The pre school has changed SO much in that time, for the better ofcourse! We’ve learnt a lot along the way and continue to do so! The “knock through”, expansion, numerous renovations and ofcourse our newest additional site, Marsworth! Proud of it all, and always lots more to come! The community is at the heart of everything I plan for the pre school, and let me tell you there is so much more to come from Windmill! Thank you for your ongoing support, whether you are an ex windmill family, current windmill family, future windmill family or nothing to do with windmill at all, much appreciated! As I always say, do what you love, LOVE what you do!

VOLUNTEER DAY-August 2026

Today I welcomed “TEAM SAFRAN” over at our Ivinghoe site….

A few months back now, Safran got in touch with me and said they’d like to help us…..Each year they like to donate a whole day to a local charity, this year it was our turn!

Fast forward to today, and WOW, I am speechless (doesn’t happen often) and eternally grateful for all that has been achieved in ONE DAY!

The grassed area is going to be the BRAND NEW GARDEN for the rising stars (our youngest attendees)

The front playground will also be well used by all each day!

So many people turned up to help with the following:

⭐️ gardening (hardcore gardening-not just a bit of weeding!)
⭐️ furniture building
⭐️ laying brand new turf (and covered the cost of this)
⭐️ endless tip runs
⭐️ painting (who knew blu tac makes such a mess on the walls)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

What an amazing company, and team of people, such a wonderful thing to do and will make such a difference to all!

How lucky are we that ALL OF OUR ROOMS have their own bespoke gardens! 🪴 🌺 💦

WELL….where do I even start! WMF 2026 🌈

I knew yesterday was going to be special (ofcourse the morning rain solidified this for me, I didn’t panic at all, I promise!)

We had the BEST DAY in the sunshine….all of the little people were so happy, (and that makes for a lot of happy parents/carers too!) drinks were flowing, powder paint was being thrown….Five 🎶 was being played (🤩) it literally makes my day to see it all in action! It was lovely that so many of you pitched up and stayed for the WHOLE 5 hours!

Putting on an event like windmillfest is always such a big gamble, (and yes it does keep me up at night) will people buy tickets, will people turn up? Well the answer is a big fat YES and I shouldn’t ever worry!

As a charity who relies on FUNDRAISING INCOME (especially at the moment) I cannot stress enough how important these events are for our not so little windmill empire!

I am over the moon to say that we raised a whopping £2432.00 AFTER our expenses, this is also a new WMF RECORD for us! (Remember the funfair rides were covered by external grant spend)

I am super proud of everything we continue to achieve at windmill and to think windmillfest was only ever going to be a “one off” in 2021 it’s actually funny to think that we EVER even said that out loud!

Of course there are things we want to build on and tweak (ever the critic) BUT I can assure you next year will be BIGGER AND BETTER ❤️

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE “red top” crew who literally worked tirelessly all day (and into the night for the clean down!) it’s also really important to note NOBODY gets paid for ANY time they volunteer for WMF whether they are a trustee, friend of windmill or employed staff member.

We all do it because we LOVE IT, and I know that shows! ✨ 🧡
Please leave your feedback below, we’d love to hear it!

Now summer hols can start…… ☀️
