A supported internship is a transition to work programme for young people who want to gain work experience and develop their skills to be able to get a job. You will finish the programme with valuable and transferable skills, experience to support you in finding meaningful employment and a CV ready to find employment.

We have so more exciting news to share... recent Supported Internship graduate Logan Wright has secured a job within RLI's ward 33!📢✨

Well done Logan! Your hard work and determination have paid off. We’re so proud of you and we look forward to seeing you at the RLI.🤩

Our Supported Interns don't just complete placements within the hospital, they also gain valuable experience with external employers! This year, Gurpreet, Evan and Ian all completed placements at Nazareth Care Charitable Trust.🤩✨

Gurpreet completed two placement blocks at Nazareth House, developing her customer service, teamwork and communication skills before progressing to supporting staff with non-clinical duties and resident activities. Staff described her as "a lovely, jolly person."🤗

Evan completed his placement in the care home's kitchens, where he helped prepare meals for residents and was praised for quickly picking up and carrying out tasks.🍽️

Ian built on his communication skills by supporting staff to identify residents' needs and assisting with administrative tasks, making great use of his IT skills.💻

We are so thankful for our external placement providers as well! 🥰

This year Salvation Army Charity Shop Lancaster has kindly hosted three of our amazing interns! ✨🤗

Their first intern was Logan who was great at helping them by pricing items, cleaning clothes and sorting out a sale rail. When asked about Logan they said 'we couldn't have asked for a better person'.

Their second intern was Toni, she helped by dressing mannequins, tidying the shop floor and helping out on the till. The team praised her for her ability to pick up tasks well!

And last but not least they hosted Ian. Ian was a great asset to the team, helping all aspects of the shop run smoothly. He really excelled in his role and his manager said “I’ve never had anyone train as quickly!”.

We also want to say a big thank you to the wider team and specifically the UHMBT Careers & Apprenticeships Team for facilitating this programme!🤩

Thanks to the support of the RLI, we're able to offer young people the opportunity to build those work-ready skills in a real working environment. The UHMBT Careers & Apprenticeships Team help our interns in so many ways, from offering placements to giving mock interviews and helping them build those valuable, transferable skills. We really can't thank you enough! 🥳🤗

The team has been there through all the ups and downs this year, chosen the best placements for our interns, and built strong, trusting relationships with every single one of them. They play such a vital role in ensuring our interns secure employment! 💙🤩

Intern Logan received an award for his Self Determination and Motivation at our Supported Internship Celebration Evening!🤩✨

Whilst on the course logan has always demonstrated a pro-active 'can do' attitude. Staff at RLI said Logan was "a pleasure to work with", with one team saying "can we keep him?”.🤗

Well done Logan for all your hard work and dedication, good luck for the rest of your journey!🥳

At our Supported Internship Celebration Evening, intern Gurpreet received an award for her Customer Service and Enthusiasm!🤗🏆

She has consistently showed empathy and compassion throughout the programme and demonstrated an enthusiastic approach to working with others. Gurpreet has been described as 'lovely and welcoming' by staff at RLI and 'a lovely, jolly person' by staff at Nazareth House.🤩

Well done Gurpreet, we wish you all the best for your future!💫

Recently at our Supported Internship Celebration Evening, Intern Mathew was recognised for Developing Positive Relationships in the Workplace!🥰

Matty has built confidence and professionalism though working with different colleagues and supervisors and has been praised for his enthusiasm in his roles.🤩💫

We have some amazing news✨... 2026 Graduate Evan has successfully secured at job at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary's Skylight kitchen!

We are beyond proud of Evan and wish him the best of luck in this new chapter.🤩
