Morecambe Bay Poverty Truth Commission

Morecambe Bay Poverty Truth Commission We invite local people in positions of power to hear these stories shared creatively at a public launch event.

Morecambe Bay Poverty Truth Commission is inviting people with lived experience of poverty to join our conversation

We meet together to listen, learn and present our shared experiences. We create shared spaces where people can meet as equals where our own perspectives are challenged. We are all changed by truly meeting each other and we discover ways of making practical changes for the better. We create a platform to be heard at local and national levels.

Huge thanks to Citizens Advice North Lancashire for holding a very timely and vital conversation with Lord Richard Walker, the Government’s Cost of Living Champion, along with Lizzi Collinge MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale.

We are so humbled and proud of our commissioners for sharing their powerful stories of the cost of living crisis and illustrating why they cannot be examined in isolation from the many compounded issues of poverty they face.

You may have discovered St Helens' marvelous Café Laziz on social media or on the telly over the weekend? We aim to stay out of politics, but we stand shoulder to shoulder with organisations supporting, championing and advocating for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in society. You can support Café Laziz by attending their fabulous Refugee Week or by donating to their crowd funder - full details below.

Totally overawed by the love and solidarity pouring in, huge thank you to everyone who has donated, messaged and is standing by us.

We'll get back to you all individually eventually, but for now here is the requested link to the crowdfunder set up by a local resident and absolute hero, which will make sure this event happens and that it will be bigger and better than ever.

‘We haven’t met the Civic Commissioners yet, we do that after the launch event, but already by sharing our issues among the Community Commissioners, it feels lighter, like something we can take action to change. In the community meetings, we’ve laughed and raged and cried. I’m so honoured t...
