In the past 24 hours, our Lifeboat has launched on four separate incidents.

Our first mission involved an overturned fishing vessel. Our crew efficiently assessed the situation, checking for any individuals who might still be aboard and retrieving gill nets that were floating about half a mile offshore, which presented a hazard to passing ships.

Next, we responded to a report of two individuals in distress on an inflatable raft drifting near the River Keer. Thankfully, as our Lifeboat was en route, they were able to self-rescue with the assistance of a vigilant passerby who stepped in to help.

Approximately 30 minutes later, we received an emergency call about a person being swept out to sea near the stone jetty. A brave bystander entered the water to perform a rescue, successfully bringing the individual to safety on the rocks.

Once our Lifeboat team arrived on scene and assessed the situation, we request assist for the fire and rescue service, ambulance, and local Coast Guard rescue team to assist with an extraction.

Our final mission took us to a person facing difficulties on the beach near the battery while using a mobility scooter.

We are proud to report that all missions concluded successfully.

As the weather warms up, we strongly encourage everyone to take extra precautions when venturing out on the beach/sea to ensure their safety and well-being.

if you are interested in joining Morecambe Lifeboat crew, please watch out for our recruitment drives in the near future

📟 Morecambe RNLI launch to person and dog stuck in the mud near The Battery car park ‼️

🐶 At 9.44am on Tuesday 18th February 2025, Morecambe RNLI volunteers were paged to reports of one person and one dog stuck in the mud near to The Battery car park.

🌊 The inshore rescue hovercraft launched with 4 volunteer crew members on board and headed to the area.

🛟 The crew rescued the casualty and the dog from the mud and escorted them to the safety of the shore at the battery car park where they were transferred to awaiting NWAS. Local coastguard teams and LFRS were also in attendance.

🏖️ We would like to remind everyone that when you go to the beach, always carry a means of calling for help. If you’re going in the water, you can carry your mobile phone in a waterproof pouch. That way, if you find yourself or spot someone else in an emergency situation, you can get help.

☎️ In a coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
