We are part of the Military Wives Choirs Foundation charity which was created following the enormous success of the No.1 single Wherever You Are, which raised over half a million pounds for SSAFA and The Royal British Legion. Founded in September 2012 by a small group of military wives from the very first choirs to build a lasting legacy of choirs for women in the military community, the Foundatio
n helps women around the UK and around the world to share the enjoyment and pride that comes from singing together. There are more than 80 choirs in the Military Wives Choirs Foundation to date, with the Marham Military Wives Choir being one of those to be initially set up after the success of the first choirs featured in the BBC Documentary Series, The Choir: Military Wives with Gareth Malone. Since then the Bluebirds have been busy with local projects such as singing at the Battle of Britain Parade, Unveiling of the War Memorial in Peterborough, singing at the local hospice, performing at the National Armed Forces day celebrations in Nottingham, performing at various RBL events and also at the Waddington International Air Show. Local events are something all the Bluebirds feel passionately about and look forward performing at more events in 2022. Our members help one another through the bad times, celebrate the good times and all of us sing our way through military life together. Alone, anyone can struggle to be heard. But with our Bluebird friends alongside us, it feels like we can do anything. It's been an amazing few years but as lucky as some of our past and present ladies have been to play a small part in unforgettable events like the Festival of Remembrance and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, it's the work each of us does in our own community that we love the most. The nomadic life of military families means it can be tough to put down roots in communities before it's time to move on again. But wherever we are in the world, the choir gives each of us a real chance to get involved and make a difference where we live, singing for local good causes or supporting other military charities like SSAFA, The Royal British Legion or Help for Heroes. Just as much as they build up unbreakable bonds, our choir also breaks down barriers. We're lucky enough to sing everywhere from village halls to concert halls, from schools to stadiums. We raise money for the Military Wives Choirs Foundation a non profitable charity that supports all the Military Wives Choirs, other military charities and charities close to the heart of the community in which we live. Ultimately, we bring women in the military community closer together through singing meaning we truly are ‘Stronger Together'. Twitter
