🐾 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 🐾

Yesterday evening, members of our Dog Team were out training in and around Balsall Common, continuing to develop the skills that help us search for vulnerable and missing people across Warwickshire and beyond.

Did you spot us while we were out? 👀

Training is a vital part of maintaining the high standards required of our search dogs and handlers, and sessions like these wouldn’t be possible without the support of our dedicated volunteers.

A huge thank you to all the team members who gave up their evening to act as casualties, assist with exercises, and help train our dogs. Your time and commitment are invaluable and play a key role in keeping our teams operational.

🏃‍♂️ 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 🏃‍♀️

Yesterday, a group of Warwickshire Search and Rescue volunteers successfully completed their fitness test, covering 5 miles in under 2 hours.

This assessment is an important part of maintaining our operational readiness. Search and rescue incidents can involve long hours on challenging terrain, often carrying equipment and working in difficult conditions. Ensuring our team members can meet the required fitness standard helps us remain capable, effective, and ready to respond when people need us most.

A huge well done to everyone who took part. Your commitment to maintaining the skills and fitness needed for search and rescue is greatly appreciated and reflects the dedication of our volunteers across the team.

🎉 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 ! 🎉

This weekend, members of Lowland Rescue, successfully passed the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 – a significant achievement that strengthens both their skills and the capabilities of our teams.

The National Search Operations Course provides specialist training in the planning, coordination and management of search operations. It equips volunteers with the knowledge and decision-making skills needed to help lead searches for vulnerable missing people, working alongside police and partner agencies to ensure resources are deployed effectively and safely.

For the public, this means Warwickshire Search and Rescue now has even greater capacity to support complex search incidents. Having more qualified Search Ops within the team enhances our ability to respond efficiently, make informed operational decisions, and ultimately improve the service we provide to our communities when someone goes missing.

Achieving this qualification requires dedication, commitment, and a considerable investment of personal time, and we are incredibly proud of both Tess and Marcus for reaching this milestone.

At training last week, we were delighted to confirm that two more of our trainees have successfully qualified as Licensed Search Technicians.

A huge congratulations to Leah and Rach! Your dedication, commitment, and hard work throughout your training have paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of what you have achieved.

Becoming a Licensed Search Technician is a significant milestone and reflects the skills, professionalism, and determination needed to support our search and rescue operations across Warwickshire and beyond.

🎶 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀! 🎶

What a fantastic evening we had at the Summer Concert hosted by The Circle Singers of Royal Leamington Spa. last night.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event. Your generosity will help Warwickshire Search and Rescue continue providing our vital volunteer search and rescue service to communities across Warwickshire and beyond.

The concert was a wonderful celebration of music and community spirit, and the choir were absolutely superb from start to finish. It was a pleasure to be part of such a successful event.

A special thank you to The Circle Singers of Royal Leamington Spa. for choosing to support our team and for putting on such an enjoyable evening.

🚁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 🚁

This week’s training session was a fantastic opportunity to learn from two highly experienced guest speakers and strengthen our understanding of the aviation assets available to support search operations.

Firstly, we welcomed Sgt Wainwright from Warwickshire Police Central Investigations Tasking Team. As Chief Drone Pilot and Copilot Champion, Ian delivered the same presentation used for new police recruits, providing valuable insight into drone operations and capabilities. He also shared a real-life example of a previous deployment where 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 worked alongside Warwickshire Police, demonstrating the benefits of effective multi-agency cooperation.

We were also pleased to welcome Sgt Rawlings, Base Manager at National Police Air Service HQ in Birmingham, who spoke about the role of police helicopters in search operations. Sgt Rawlings explained how NPAS supports searches from the air, the technology available on board, and how helicopter assets can complement ground search teams during critical incidents.

A huge thank you to both guest speakers for giving up their time to share their knowledge and experience with our volunteers. Sessions like these help us better understand the capabilities of our partner agencies and improve the effectiveness of our search operations.

This week we’re delighted to introduce 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 as part of our Meet the Team campaign!

Chris is a valued member of Warwickshire Search and Rescue and plays a vital role across several specialist areas of the team. He serves as a Search Technician, is a member of our Kayak Team, is qualified as a Swift Water Rescue Technician, and also takes on the responsibility of Team Leader.

👥 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 – 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗨3𝗔 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 👋

This week, we had the pleasure of being invited to deliver a talk to the Shottery U3A group at St. Andrew’s Church Hall in Shottery, Stratford-upon-Avon.

It was fantastic to meet so many interested and engaged members, and to have the opportunity to share more about the work of Warwickshire Search and Rescue, our volunteers, and how we support the emergency services and local communities.

A huge thank you to everyone at Shottery U3A for making us feel so welcome. We are especially grateful for your generous donations, which will help us continue providing our vital search and rescue service across Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.

🚤🌊 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 🌊🚤

Last night, our Swift Water Rescue team came together at HQ for an important familiarisation and training session.

The evening included:

✅ Familiarisation with both new and existing rescue boats, including updates to our new sign-off procedures
✅ Equipment inspection training to ensure operational readiness
✅ Inspection and logging of issued PPE and rescue equipment
✅ Rope work practice and skills refreshers

Regular training and equipment checks are essential to maintaining the high standards required for safe and effective water rescue operations. Sessions like these help ensure our volunteers remain confident, competent and ready to respond when needed.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to another productive evening of learning and development.
