This week, Mr. Whippy made a special visit to Dewar Close in Rugby! ๐Ÿฆ

The 99 was the fan favourite among residents, with Joan calling hers โ€œlovely jubblyโ€ and Angus saying he hadnโ€™t had one in years.

Home Manager Tara said, โ€œSometimes itโ€™s the simple things that can bring smiles to everyoneโ€™s faces. We all really enjoyed our sweet treats - it was the perfect way to cool down on a warm day!โ€

Residents at Drayton Court in Nuneaton added a splash of colour to the home with flowers and hand-painted pots ready for summer. ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿชด

Last week, Angela and Lifestyle Coach Stacey took a stroll to their local Co-op store to pick out some fresh flowers for the home. While arranging them in vases, Angela shared fond memories of helping her dad - who was a keen gardener - sort through flowers to sell at the market.

Later in the week, Lenny, Hazel and Angela got their hands messy painting colourful plant pots for their garden. They are looking forward to planting and putting them outside.

Residents from Drovers House in Rugby were โ€œflying highโ€ after a day out at The Royal Air Force Museum Midlands. โœˆ๏ธ

As aircraft enthusiasts, they identified all the planes at first glance, from the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane to the Lockheed P-2 Neptune and The Boulton Paul Defiant, which served as an RAF interceptor during World War II.

The trio were moved as they looked through preserved belongings and telegrams sent to families during wartime. In the museumโ€™s uniform section, they donned an RAFโ€™s officer cap and tried on tin hats, with Lifestyle Coach Jo saying, โ€œThis is M*A*S*H meets Dadโ€™s Army!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜„

After some more plane spotting, everyone stopped for lunch before heading home, chatting about their favourite parts of the tour.

Ben, who lives at Mill Green in Rugby, has always been a big Toy Story fan and loves watching the films whenever he can.

One morning, Hotel Services Manager Katie showed Wellbeing Co-ordinator Rachel photos from the Pixar Exhibition sheโ€™d visited in London. As Rachel looked through them, she immediately thought of Ben and knew it'd be right up his street.

Rachel and Team Leader Lucy soon arranged a special trip for Ben to visit the exhibition for himself. Around every corner was something exciting to discover - colourful artwork, iconic sets like Andy's room from Toy Story and something Ben never expected to see: a life-sized figure of his favourite character, Woody.

Rachel said, โ€œFor me and Lucy, seeing Ben so happy was easily the best part of our day and a reminder of why we love what we do. Itโ€™s a trip heโ€™ll always remember.โ€

Looking forward to making pressed flower bookmarks, Cynthia, Margaret, Michael, Monika and Phyllis from Castle Brook in Kenilworth headed outside together to gather flowers and leaves from around their garden. Forget-me-nots, daisies, dandelions and greenery were carefully picked before everyone settled down to create their designs.

What followed was, in Lifestyle Coach Jeslinโ€™s words, โ€œone of those sessions that stick with you.โ€ There was something special about seeing everyone reconnect with such a simple activity that people have enjoyed doing for generations.

Cynthia shared how pressed flower making is a very old tradition, while Monika and Michael became completely absorbed in making their bookmarks just right.

Margaret was so proud of hers that she couldnโ€™t wait to show a staff member back in her household and talk through all the work that had gone into creating it.

After pressing them overnight inside heavy books, everyone received their finished laminated bookmarks the next day. Later, Phyllis was in the cafรฉ when she spotted a friend and proudly pulled out her bookmark to show her. Her friend loved it so much she asked if she could join in next time too.

Thereโ€™s been lots going on at Westlands in Rugby recently. ๐Ÿ˜Š

One day, Doris was chatting away with the care team and shared that her biggest regret in life was never getting a tattoo. It was something sheโ€™d thought about doing but had always felt too nervous. Care Co-ordinator Tish and Home Manager Emma wanted to help make it happen, so they brought in a collection of temporary tattoos. Before long, Westlandsโ€™ reception area turned into a pop-up tattoo studio!

Doris chose her favourite designs and convinced some of the staff to join in, so they could have matching tattoos. Doris was really happy to tick a tattoo experience off her list!

Volunteers Margaret and Mary, who are sisters, pop in to do craft sessions every week. Recently, theyโ€™ve made ribbon roses, lavender flowers from pipe cleaners and jewellery with residents. When they were finished, Sue and Jen couldnโ€™t wait to show off their necklaces to Lifestyle Coach Mel and were happy to pose for a few photos wearing them.

With the sunshine finally sticking around, barge trips have been a popular choice. ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿšค

Residents from Dewar Close in Rugby enjoyed soaking up the scenic views along the canal aboard the Hargreaves Narrowboat. Doreen reminisced about the days her husband owned a barge himself, sharing lots of lovely memories. Val loved watching the ducks go by from the front of the boat, while Rose kept everyone entertained singing some of her favourite songs. ๐ŸŽถ

Last week, Attleborough Grange in Nuneaton also enjoyed their own trip to Atherstone Locks. Music filled the air as everyone loved seeing ducklings, cows and horses, bluebells in the woods and even an alpaca along the way! Sue shared the day with her son and they made lots of new memories together.

Residents living at Fairfield in Bedworth enjoyed their morning in the plaza celebrating VE Day, marking the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II. ๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ

Lifestyle Coach Sophie prepared a lovely cream tea spread while everyone sang along to wartime favourites, including โ€œPack Up Your Troublesโ€, โ€œItโ€™s a Long Way to Tipperaryโ€, and songs from Vera Lynn and The Andrews Sisters.

There was time for a few games too, including a competitive round of Four in a Row! Alan shared his love of gardening with Sophie, so the watering cans came out and were filled in no time, ready to water the plants.
