What a truly special day at the Royal Garden Party on 6th May — the third anniversary of King Charles’ Coronation.

As recipients of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, Compassionate Kenilworth was honoured to be invited to Buckingham Palace for this year’s Garden Party. Pauline Hayward, founder and Mark Dismorr were incredibly proud to represent the charity, surrounded by so many inspiring volunteers, frontline workers, emergency service personnel and people dedicated to serving their communities across the UK.

It was an unforgettable occasion made even more special by the presence of The King and Queen, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

A day we will never forget — and one that belongs to all of our amazing volunteers and supporters who make Compassionate Kenilworth what it is.

What a Wonderful afternoon we had!

On Friday Compassionate Kenilworth volunteers received The King’s Award for Voluntary Service — the highest honour given to voluntary groups in the UK. Only 231 charities nationwide received The King’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2025, making this recognition particularly special for us.

The award was presented by Tim Cox, Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire - His Majesty’s Representative - alongside other dignitaries including the High Sheriff of Warwickshire and the Mayor of Kenilworth, Kenilworth Town Council

Compassionate Kenilworth was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to support vulnerable residents forced into isolation. Since then, the charity has continued to reduce loneliness and support people facing loneliness, isolation, bereavement and hardship by providing free-to-access social, learning and support cafés across the town.

With the dedication of its volunteers, CK has helped local residents build friendships, regain confidence and reconnect with our community.

One attendee said of CK:
“I walked in completely alone, and within minutes felt welcomed, seen, heard and supported. Now I have friends, confidence and hope again.”

Thank you Tom East for your fabulous photos recording this event for us.

What a lovely night we had on Sunday bringing our volunteers together for a thank you curry. 🙏 Sunam Balti House

We’re so grateful to every single volunteer who helps us deliver our social, support and learning hubs week in - week out - you are the heart of everything we do.

It felt extra special to celebrate given our Kings Award for Voluntary Service late last year - recognition for the incredible commitment, kindness and community spirit our volunteers show weekly.

🙏🙏💕💕

Do you know someone who would benefit from coming to our FREE Digital Tech Café?

There are so many things at the moment that require you to do things digitally, and it can be really daunting. Our volunteers are here to help and we'd love to have people come along.
