Pony of the Week - DJ 💿

'Hi! I’m Jo and this is DJ - his full name is Dancing Tornado! He is a 14 year old Knabstrupper cross, and we are part of Goodwood Pony Club Branch.'

'I’ve now had DJ for 2 years and we have really flourished together over the time - we really enjoy our Show Jumping but we do really enjoy our Cross Country! We’ve made so many achievements through Pony Club recently, especially at our 2025 Pony Camp! Camp included doing our first ever 2 day show , winning the PC70 Dressage , jumping 1.10m for the first time and we went clear in the Cross Country! As well at camp we jumped “the big roll top” and my face was priceless! 😂'

'Our partnership started very bumpy...DJ really tested me for a good few months, until we joined Pony Club in May of 2024; from then on we just grew as a pair and our confidence together really started coming out.'

'DJ has really taught me a lot and Goodwood have really helped me. DJ has taught me to be patient and take the battles that come with life and keep going, we have also found a new discipline too which is Showing!! We are really enjoying it too because it’s taught both of us that not everyone will like you and your horse but you just have to keep trying!'

'We are hoping to get out a bit more with Pony Club and hopefully do some Dressage and maybe some Hunter Trials too this summer!'

It's the return of the Specialised Ability Dressage Competition, sponsored by Agria Equine Insurance!

As part of The Pony Club’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and creating opportunities for all young people, this Dressage competition will showcase the often-unseen talent of so many of our young athletes whose different abilities, physical, neuro-diverse, visible or invisible can be a barrier to accessing competition.

The aim of this showcase competition, held at The Pony Club Championships, is to support such athletes and their horse/pony by providing a pathway to enjoy competitive dressage.

The competition will be held on Tuesday 18th August at The Pony Club Championships.

Could you offer Memphis from Blue Cross UK a new home?

'Memphis is a 12.2hh 5 year old cob gelding who has been lightly backed and is looking for a home as a project pony or as a companion. Memphis is based at our Burford rehoming centre in Oxfordshire.'

'Memphis is seeking a knowledgeable home where he can thrive and enjoy the company of other playful geldings.'

'As Memphis was castrated later in life, having the right environment is key to his success. With the appropriate yard set-up, he can happily live within a gelding herd and, in time, be around mares in a yard environment. He is currently turned out with a herd of geldings. He would suit a secure, well-fenced environment where he can feel settled, confident, and at ease.'

'Memphis is easy to catch, enjoys being groomed, and stands politely for his feet to be picked out. He has been well-mannered for both the vet and farrier, making him straightforward and pleasant to handle as part of daily routine care.'

'With consistent, sympathetic handling, Memphis is ready to restart his backing and ridden education. He has lovely potential as a future ridden project and could also make a super lead rein prospect. Lightly backed last summer and currently enjoying some time off, he is a fantastic blank canvas for someone who would enjoy producing a young horse and building a rewarding partnership from the ground up.'

'In a calm, experienced home, Memphis will truly flourish as his confidence continues to grow.'
