Border Search and Rescue Unit

Border Search and Rescue Unit BSARU provide Mountain Rescue cover in the South East of Scotland. All team members are volunteers. Please do not use this page in an emergency.

To call out the rescue team, dial 999 and ask for the police, then ask for search and rescue / mountain rescue. They will then call us in.

Sunday was a day of two halves - torrential rainfall followed by warmth and sunshine and our training involved two in-depth, complex medical scenarios. The team split into two groups, both strengthened by many of our Remote Rescue Medical Technicians and got to work on one scenario, followed by the other.

The scenarios had been put together by our Medical Officer to be complex, demanding and to really test the breadth and depth of our team’s medical capabilities. A testing day and a good performance all round.

Thanks to our casualties and visitors for putting up with some challenging weather.
