Aire Valley Railway Modellers Club

Aire Valley Railway Modellers Club A group of like minded individuals based in Keighley, with an interest in most smaller gauge models

You will receive a warm welcome from a lot of like minded railway modellers at our new club based in Keighley, West Yorkshire. We mainly concentrate on the smaller scales of model railways. But we do have around 12 layouts either built or under construction, ranging in scales from Z up to and including O gauge.

Good morning everyone. More from Mr Manicom this morning as he has started work on the interior of the composite coach. Seats are from Peco (originally ratio) which are fitted onto a card base. He’s had to file down the bottoms slightly to get them to sit at the right height.

He also says that whilst the colours are bright, they are in fact accurate for LMS stock, and appear darker when the roof is on.

Next up will be adding passengers! 📸 B.Manicom

I’M BACK! Sorry for the lack of posts this week, I think the mars rover gets more signal than my phone does! Anyway here’s a little challenge for you. Bit of a Geo-Guess type quiz, can you tell me the two locations of these railway structures I’ve visited? -H

How about a little WIP from Mr Manicom for you today.

Here’s some work in progress shots of the intermediate coach of an LMS push pull set which is a Period I Composite. This is made of Brass Coach sides grafted onto an Airfix body. The sides are Comet Models however these were sold under the Sidelines brand pre-painted. The ends are again comet and the details are either white metal castings or scratch built from brass and plasticard.

Mr Manicom also tells me there’s still much work to do on this carriage before he sets out working on the driving trailer which is set to be a Goliath task!

I look forward to seeing the full set when it’s completed!

Since you all enjoyed the other EM posts so much, we’ve got even more for you! Here’s a LMS 35T Bolster Wagon. Originally a pre built kit acquired on eBay before undergoing EM conversion, weathering and the addition of the steel beams. Still to be added are the chains and shackles as well as some new coupling chains. 📸 B.Manicom
