ARMED FORCES DAY AT BENTS PARK

This is a FREE entry event to show South Tyneside Council’s appreciation for our Armed Forces, to celebrate the incredible work they do and for everyone to join in and have a fantastic day out.

Head down to Bents Park for an exciting day started by the Uniformed Parade, followed with fairground rides, live music from 5 Minutes to Midnight, The Kansas City Shuffle and The Wolcott Band. We also have Rock Choir performing as well as acts from The Next Big Thing. There’ll be stalls, food and drink and more activities for all age groups. Veterans Response CIC will be there keep a lookout for their sniper he is very sneaky. They have some amazing hand crafted wood items for sale

The Uniformed Parade will depart Gypsies Green at 10:30am, led by a marching band, making their way along Sea Road to Bents Park for a short service in the park, prior to the family fun activities.

We have received support from the Ministry of Defence which will help us with this event and to celebrate the work our Armed Forces do even more so.

The Badlanders MCC are organising a cavalcade of motorbikes which will arrive at Bents Park between 10:30am – 10:45am.

A brilliant turn out at the Breakfast on the beach event . Lovely breakfast nice sunny day lots military banter . Lots positive feed back from everyone. The mayor former para and deputy there and the leader of South Tyneside Council Paul Mackings a canny lad I must say mixed well with everyone looks like he enjoyed the breakfast as nothing left .

Thousands of RAF veterans are facing later life alone, battling loneliness, isolation and rising costs so the RAF Association is developing Bader House, Eastbourne: 10 safe, affordable homes where veterans can live independently, with the support of their RAF family.
