Happy heart day to our inspirational Ambassador Kaylee! 💙💙
Kaylee made history 39 years ago by becoming the first baby in the UK to successfully receive a heart transplant at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
Charlie & Carter’s Mammy & Daddy first heard about Kaylee when they were in hospital with Carter, her story gave them so much hope, she truly is a miracle!
They met up together after Carter lost his battle and they instantly formed a bond and became very good friends. Kaylee wanted to get involved with us and she kept to her word! We will always remember how Kaylee and her Mam Carol, worked so hard through the pandemic making ‘Funky Masks, made with love’ to help raise funds for us!
Kaylee said “I'm now 39 year's post transplant. Firstly to all my Family and friends thank you for all your love, support & generally putting up with me.
Secondly, thank you to all my Medical Team at Freeman. You are all so special & who are more like family than just Medical Professionals.
Thirdly, to my Donor Family. Thank you for making that decision 39 years ago to save my life, when your family was going through such a difficult & sad time. You are always in my thoughts. 🥰❤️
I volunteer at The Charlie & Carter Foundation "CCF" on a Wednesday afternoon at their charity shop in South Shields. I love it & I wanted to be part of their team since meeting Sarah & Chris Cookson. Knowing their story & what the foundation was all about. I wanted to give them my everything to be part of their team, because this is truly an amazing charity that deserves so much recognition for their community.
The team at CCF are amazing & I'm really proud of each & every one of them who makes this charity a beacon of hope for many families in our region.”
Organ donations can transform lives, please do have the conversation with loved ones, this could be the best gift you ever give to someone.
Kaylee, we are so proud of you, keep on being you, lots of love from all your friends at The Charlie and Carter Foundation! 💙💙
