The Rotary Club of Ipswich East was formed in 1971 as a daughter club to the Rotary Club of Ipswich which was founded in 1923. The Club has over 70 members and meets every Tuesday lunchtime at the Ipswich & Indoor Bowls Club. If you'd like to make a difference too get in touch and join us for an informal lunch to find out more about the work we do in the local community and globally as an organisation too.

Today is a day to raise awareness and reflect on the lives affected by Polio. We, as part of the worldwide organisation Rotary, advocate to end this disease for good. This year's theme is One Day, One Focus: Ending Polio For Good. Check out the www.endpolio.org website to find out how Rotary Clubs all over the world have pledged to make this happen.

At the beginning of September, we enjoyed another of our annual Twinning events with our Rotarian colleagues from Bad Salzuflen in Germany. This year we all met up in beautiful Utrecht for the weekend. We took a very relaxing tour of the canal and also visited the most amazing castle - Castle De Haar in Kasteellaan. Next June we will be celebrating 50 Years of the Orwell Challenge!!!!! You could be part of it too. Before we open for registration for next year's extra special event, we are looking for sponsors for our checkpoints, our VIPeee loos! (always very popular!), our medical cover, and so many more opportunities. We had an amazing day at the One Big Multicultural Festival with our Tombola raising money for the Ipswich Hardship Fund, which feeds the homeless living on the streets of Ipswich. We raised over £320 on the day and are so grateful to everyone who donated prizes, including the holiday in Egypt 😍which was very well received by the winners on the day (pictured here). Plus of course the 1000's of visitors who enjoyed the music, food and entertainment all afternoon. See you all again in 2027 😎

Do you know someone over 60 who would like a fun and free evening out with live music? We are once again hosting our Rotary Night at the Proms on Wednesday 30th September at Copleston High School from 7pm. We can even arrange free transport to and from the venue. Music is expertly provided by the Ipswich Over 50's Brass Band and we are blessed to have comedian Richard Whymark with us again this year to entertain. There will be a raffle and free refreshments, served by our members during the interval. All you have to do is leave a comment below and we'll be in touch to make arrangements.

We are always busy doing something in our local community and this week was no exception - and this time we took pictures!!! 😄Yesterday was the semi final of the annual Senior Citizens Quiz organised by Ipswich East Rotary Club members Ian Lord & Norman Haines. It was Hosted by David Knights & Steph Mackentyre at Paddy Geere House in Ipswich. Thanks to the staff for helping to arrange this event and for looking after us with tea and cake 🧁🍰☕️The winning team Abbeyfield One will go through to the final which will be held in July.

Yesterday a posse from our Rotary club went to flex our decorator's muscle at a brilliant local charity - Brave Futures
Here's what they said of our efforts ... "I just wanted to send a quick thank you to everyone who came to decorate our parents’ waiting room today.

The result before and after is actually quite remarkable and everyone here is absolutely thrilled with the end result. Also a massive thank you for putting up pictures and putting together furniture in such double-quick time. You all have made such a difference, and we can’t wait to see what our families think when they come in for their young person’s session."
