Working to advance equity and diversity and increase participation for women and girls in cricket

09/10/2026

A great day of cricket at The Saffrons 🏏

Back in August, over 50 women and girls joined us for a day of soft ball cricket, in collaboration with Take Her Lead and Lacuna Sports ☀️

Teams from Eastbourne CC, Haywards Heath CC, St Peters CC, Ansty CC and East Dean & Friston CC all took part, with East Dean & Friston playing their first ever match together after only two months of training as a team. After the group stages and semi-finals, Haywards Heath and Ansty made it through to the final, with Ansty coming out on top by 51 runs.

The day also raised £200 each for Take Her Lead and Eastbourne’s women and girls setup, thanks to the support of local Sussex businesses! A really enjoyable day and great to see so many women and girls getting involved in cricket at The Saffrons.
