Well done to Barry (Sunshine Sioux) who made a huge impression on all who met him when he was taken by Volunteer Sue to her local Church afternoon tea party.

Barry was the centre of attention, fussed constantly and adored by all.

He helped pick the raffle tickets, helped the ladies choose their prizes and went inside the Church where he leaned and cuddled with everyone and was excellent with the little children, he didn't put a foot wrong.
What a star, he will make a wonderful companion for some lucky family.
If you would like to meet Barry please call John on 07854057715.

We have had a wonderful update on Larry (Dapper Larry).
After being cared for by our fantastic foster carers. Larry has now been in his forever home for over a year.

Larry went home with the most amazing people who had already taken Mo, one of the most, if not the most nervous dogs we had ever met.
They worked wonders with Mo and were happy to answer our appeal for a forever home for Larry. We knew then that as with Mo they would give Larry all the time and patience needed for him to reach his full potential.

So here is what Larry's family have to say about him:-
"Larry is well and truly settled. He has finally negotiated stairs and sleeps in his bed beside his humans.

He is very respectful of his house mate Mo who adores him and is like a Mother Hen, sniffing his ears and generally making sure he is ok. Larry laps it up and Mo is often rewarded with a big kiss on the head from him which is so cute.

He loves his walks, almost wearing himself out with excitement before he's even gotten out of the door. He wants to sniff and stick his head into everything and is happy to say hello to others, canine or human.

He loves his cuddly toys, there are one or two that he has kept in tact but taking the stuffing out of the majority of them is still his favourite pass time. The local charity shop is doing very well out of that!
He's doing wonderfully. Mo and he are the perfect pairing; both nervous in their own ways but support each other brilliantly. We adore him, as do all our family and friends. He is showered with cuddles and fuss, even by an Aunt, who is 83 and was petrified of dogs, but she is more than comfortable with Larry. He's an absolute darling and we feel truly privileged to have him".

Thank you to Larry and Mo's family for seeing past their initial shyness and giving both of them the loving home they so richly deserved.

Chair of Trustees steps down after eleven years of service.

Greyhound Trust announces that Professor Steve Dean has stepped down as Chair of the Board of Trustees after nearly eleven years of dedicated service to the charity.

Steve joined the Board in October 2015 and has helped guide Greyhound Trust through a period of
significant change and development.Throughout his tenure, his focus has remained steadfast: ensuring that retired racing greyhounds have the opportunity to enjoy safe, loving homes and the best possible future after racing.

During Steve's time as Chair, more than 25,000 retired racing greyhounds have found homes through
Greyhound Trust's homing network. The charity has strengthened its foundations and resilience,
navigating significant challenges including COVID and important changes in the wider funding landscape. Under his leadership, Greyhound Trust opened its first owned homing centre, paving the way for further owned locations and providing greater long-term stability for the charity and the greyhounds it serves.

These developments have helped place Greyhound Trust in a stronger position to support retired racing
greyhounds both now and in the future.

As Greyhound Trust enters its next chapter, the organisation remains firmly focused on the greyhounds at the heart of its mission. The charity is currently finalising its next five-year strategy, which is centred on homing more greyhounds and continuing to strengthen the systems, support and infrastructure that enable successful homing across the country. Every decision will continue to be guided by what is best for retired racing greyhounds.

Professor Dean said:

"It has been a privilege to serve Greyhound Trust over the past eleven years. I am incredibly proud of
what has been achieved during that time and grateful to everyone who has contributed to the charity's
success. Our volunteers, branches, staff and supporters share an unwavering commitment to
greyhounds, and it has been an honour to work alongside them.

"The welfare and future of retired racing greyhounds has always been at the heart of every decision we
have made. I leave knowing that the charity is in a strong position, with a clear purpose, dedicated
people and an exciting future ahead."

Raymond Harding, Vice Chair of Greyhound Trust, said:

"On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Steve for his outstanding contribution to Greyhound Trust.
His leadership, commitment and passion for greyhound welfare have helped guide the charity through a period of considerable change and achievement.

"The Board remains united in its commitment to our mission and to ensuring that the welfare and
successful homing of greyhounds remains at the heart of everything we do.We look forward to building
on the strong foundations that have been established."

Lisa Morris, Chief Executive of Greyhound Trust, said:

"I have had the privilege of working alongside Steve for more than a decade.Together, we have seen
the charity navigate challenges, embrace opportunities and continue to evolve in support of
greyhounds and those who care for them, while strengthening the organisation for the future.

"Steve has always championed the importance of putting greyhounds at the centre of our thinking, and
I would like to personally thank him for his dedication throughout our time working together.

"Greyhound Trust is entering an exciting new phase. We are financially stable, operationally strong and absolutely focused on our mission of finding more loving homes for retired racing greyhounds."

The Board extends its sincere thanks to Steve for his leadership, commitment and dedicated service
over nearly eleven years and wishes him every success in the future.

Note: At their meeting on 9th June 2026, the Board of Trustees elected Raymond Harding as the new
Chair of Greyhound Trust and Chris Reeves as Vice Chair.

Sam and his little Jack Russell friend Rosie have become the best of pals and Sam has been careful around his human sister baby Maisie.
Sam what an absolute pleasure it was to look after you in kennels, such a character. Have the best time in your new home and do send us updates from time to time. Much love from us all. xx

We are so pleased to say that Sandy (Mortimers Girl) went home on Sunday. Sandy was extremely shy when she first arrived and although still a bit on the shy side when she went home that was not in evidence when on her second night in her new home she woofed her own dinner and had her eye on her housemate Meggie's dinner! Meggie was wise to her and ate all of hers up.
We are sure Meggie will show Sandy the ropes and it won't be long before her shyness becomes a thing of the past.

We won't get to see you again Sandy as you have moved North of the border to Scotland but we hope to have updates from time to time. Be happy sweetheart.xx

Since moving to Northumberland Volunteer Avril doesn't get to meet up with the Kennel Dogs and all at Dillymore Kennels as often as she wishes and so what an absolute treat it was for her to spend time catching up with the Kennel team and meeting Volunteer Claire for the first time.
She met all of the dogs and walked several of them. She also enjoyed helping out at feeding time.
She will be visiting again at the end of June when she will lead the evening walk in Dedham on Friday 26th.
Below are photos of Billy (Fawn), Neville a shy lad (In his run) and a video of Tommy.
