Hi everyone! 😀
My name is Kaitlin, and I’m the Referrals Coordinator at LATNEM Peer Support. I joined the team back in April, but my journey with LATNEM actually started as a volunteer after navigating my own mental health struggles following the birth of my three beautiful children.
Knowing firsthand how vital maternal mental health support is, I wanted to give back, and ensure other parents get the care and community support they deserve.
In my role, I help connect people with the right support when they need it most.
When I’m not working, life is wonderfully chaotic! You’ll usually find me running around after my three kids, driving them to all their clubs, walking our two dogs, and trying my best to keep the house in order. Whenever I get a quiet moment, I love just being outdoors and going for a walk.🌲🐶

What does “peer support” really mean? 💛
At LATNEM, a peer is a Mum with lived experience of mental ill health. Whether you are right at the start of your mental health journey or fully recovered and looking to connect with others who have been in a similar situation, you belong here.

When you come along to one of our support groups, we want you to know right from the start that nobody here is an expert trying to assess, diagnose or “fix” anyone - we are all simply mums who have all needed support with our mental health, sitting together on completely equal ground.

Peer support works on an equal footing. Everyone in the room (including our volunteers) shares an understanding through lived experience. It’s built on mutuality, shared learning, and recognising that we can learn from and support each other through mental health and our parenting journey.

Talking to another mum in the room is every bit as valuable as talking to one of our volunteers, and all of our lived experience is there to support one another. Even volunteers who have been with us for years still come away from our meetings having learned a new way to cope or a fresh self-care idea from the lovely mums in the room.

Hello lovely mums,

This week at LATNEM we have a Walk and Talk in Inverurie and LATNEM on the Move is in Keith as well as our Face to Face in Aberdeen.

All our events can be booked through Eventbrite, get booked in and come along for a chat and a cuppa with our Volunteers. If you can't manage a face to face, we have an Online Perinatal Peer Support Online Chat on Wednesday morning.
