Inverurie Town Centre CCTV Project Reaches Key Procurement Milestone.

Plans to introduce a modern town centre CCTV system in Inverurie have taken another major step forward, with Scottish technology specialist Scot-Tech Fire and Security selected to deliver the system options following a competitive tender process.

Funded by developer obligation monies through Malcolm Allan Housebuilders - and spearheaded by We Are Inverurie Business Improvement District (BID) with support from Aberdeenshire Council - the CCTV system aims to improve public safety, deter anti-social behaviour and support the town's night-time economy.

Derek Ritchie, Manager at We Are Inverurie BID, said: "The CCTV project continues to move forward positively. Choosing STFS gives us a clear path toward selecting a system that fits Inverurie’s exact needs while staying within our budget. Subject to location approvals, utility connections and planning permissions, we are fully on track to move into the installation phase as soon as the final option is formally agreed."

🎨 Thank You for Helping Shape Inverurie's Community Art Project - the results are IN!

Evolving Inverurie, We are Inverurie - BID and Inverurie Community Council invited the community to vote for the themes they would most like to see reflected in future public art installations around the town.

The response was fantastic, with 556 votes cast across 14 different themes. Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their ideas.

Here are the results:

The results highlight the stories, landmarks and heritage that matter most to local people and will help inform the next stage of the project as we continue to explore funding opportunities and potential locations.

This is very much a community-led initiative, and your input is helping to shape a project that celebrates the unique character, history and identity of Inverurie.

See below the request from Inverurie Events. These events wouldn't happen without volunteers. Put your name on the list, that's all, if you are free to assist that's great and if not that's also fine. No minimum commitment ⤵️

Inverurie's community spirit is unmatched...we're incredibly proud of the events we put on every year—from the Christmas Switch-on Fireworks and Reindeer Parade to Taste of Garioch, the Pipe Band Championships, Ladies Days and the In-Tune Festival.

But the reality of running a charity completely powered by volunteers is that as these events grow, our current team is stretched. The scale and turnout for our annual events are growing massively, which is fantastic for the town, but it means we genuinely need a larger pool of local folk to call on for help.
We aren't asking for a massive commitment.

Right now, we are just looking for people who are willing to be on our contact list.

We’re excited to announce that our new Pétanque facility is now available to book at GSC! 🎉

📅 Advance booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made via our mobile app, website, or by calling 01467 626141.

The following pricing structure will apply for 2-hour facility hire sessions:

🟢 Under 16s — £2.00 per person
🟢 Ages 16–59 — £3.00 per person
🟢 Over 60s — £2.00 per person

Please note that Pétanque is NOW INCLUDED within any GSC facility memberships. All hires will included equipment use if required.

What is Pétanque?
Pétanque is a relaxed outdoor game originating from France, similar to bowls or bocce. Players stand in a small circle and take turns throwing metal balls, known as boules, towards a small wooden target ball called the cochonnet (or “jack”).

The aim is simple — get your boules as close to the target as possible, or knock your opponent’s further away!

Suitable for all ages and abilities, Pétanque is easy to learn, highly social, and great fun for families, friends, and groups.
