Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind is an independent, local charity dedicated to supporting people with sight impairment who live in Huntingdonshire

The Society provides a wide range of activities and services tailored to the individual needs of our members, their carers and families including:
Home visit outreach service to assess needs and provide information and support. Identification of and assistance with entitlements applications. Visual and mobility aid equipment centre. Monthly social meetings in St Neots, St Ives, Ramsey and Huntingd

on. Sports and leisure group. Christmas party and summer outing. Subsidised and escorted annual holiday. Quarterly newsletters. Emotional Support. IT support and information. Volunteer home visiting scheme.

• Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide. Despite there being a highly successful known treatment, cataracts are responsible for almost half of all cases of blindness across the globe.
• Cataract surgery has a success rate of over 95%. Many people report having better vision within days of treatment.
• Surgery to remove cataracts is the most common operation in the NHS. Over 400,000 cataract surgeries are performed each year.

Make an appointment for an eye exam if you notice any changes in your vision.
If you develop sudden vision changes, such as double vision or flashes of light, sudden eye pain, or a sudden headache, see a doctor straight away.
How a cataract affects your vision.
