💜October is also Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. 💜
This month is an opportunity to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the profound impact it can have on individuals, families, and communities. Behind closed doors, many people are living with fear, isolation, and control, often feeling unable to speak out or ask for help.
Domestic abuse is a pattern of behaviour used by one person to gain and maintain power and control over another. It can take many forms, including physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, financial, and coercive abuse. No one deserves to be treated this way, and abuse is never the fault of the victim.
To anyone experiencing domestic abuse: please know that you are not alone, you are not to blame, and support is available. Taking the first step can feel overwhelming, but there are people who will listen, believe you, and help you find a way forward.
If you are worried about yourself, a family member, a friend, or a colleague, please don't hesitate to reach out. A conversation, a kind word, or simply letting someone know you're there can make a world of difference.
