A reminder you can come see us for free for a fit check.
Today within 5 minutes I saw 2 babies too low on their caregivers - at high risk of suffocation. And 1 baby was world facing without their face free of the fabric.
Yes we generally steer people towards carriers with a wide base that help put baby into a more comfortable position for both baby and you. But we can work with narrow carriers to help you get a safer fit too.
Sadly there is not enough information around how to get a safer fit with your carrier. Celebrities, TV programs and what we see on the street all go towards building a narrative of what looks normal - and as new parents, people don’t know to seek out help for a safer or more comfortable fit - especially when we look around and see lots of confirmation of ill fitting carriers.
My first attempts at carrying were not safe. I sought help because it felt wrong.
Many people buy a carrier from recommendation of google searches or what their friends used. Marketing budgets vary. Some of my favourite carriers use next to no marketing and are under £100 new. Some popular carriers are nearing or exceeding the £200 mark and don’t fit newborns well (or last as long as the box implies). And yes! We help you identify good Vinted purchases too. Because not everyone has a budget for brand new.
