Natural Kirklees

Natural Kirklees Whether you want to get away for some peace and quiet, find somewhere new to play or discover more ab Thinking of setting up a new friends group?

Natural Kirklees became a registered charity in 2017 and is the umbrella organisation for the “Friends of” and “Greenspace” management groups and communities within the Kirklees area. We provide new and established member groups with advice, help and information. We signpost the public to a park or green space nearby and will put you in touch with a local group or a volunteer coordinator employed

by Kirklees Council. Take a look at our website www.naturalkirklees.org for more information. Check out our membership page at www.naturalkirklees.org/submit-to-directory/ or email us at [email protected]. Our role in detail is to
• Assist in the establishment of new “friends of” groups in terms of advice regarding their management, constitution and objectives.
• Provide ongoing support to members with news, regulatory documents (e.g. risk assessments and policies) and advice where we have experience or expertise.
• Provide free public liability insurance and cover for tools to full, constituted members to an agreed value (currently £5m) with the council. We currently insure 90 of our 130 members.
• Provide tools on loan to members from two tool stores at Beaumont and Wilton Parks
• Organise quarterly meetings of members to enable discussion and exchange of views on relevant matters.
• Provide small grants for improvement work for constituted members and on site training for the eradication of Japanese Knotweed where funding allows.
• Provide a frequent newsletter informing members of interesting and relevant matters.
• Provide a web site for members and the public to identify volunteering opportunities, member details, green space locations, volunteer coordinator contacts, details of helpful resources and a depository of useful documentation. Our newsletters provide a news and interest feed especially for those not subscribed to social media.
• Provide a social media presence publicising what Natural Kirklees and its members are undertaking and provide a source of interest for things natural in Kirklees.
• Act as a link between Kirklees Council Parks and Green Spaces and our members.
• Support Kirklees Council in their relevant initiatives where it meets our objectives and affects the natural world and/ or our members. Our posting policy:
