😡 Power. Pride. Desire. Rage.

🥸 We see these forces all around us, shaping our societies. Yet people with learning disabilities are rarely given the chance to play the villains on stage, and are too often expected to be the innocents, or the inspirational figures.

☠️ My Villain Era turns that expectation on its head, inviting you into a dark and unpredictable world where anything is possible.

💡 But will we find the light in the end?

💥 Next up on team My Villain Era: Emma Nielsen & Lottie Brent

🎭 Both Leeds Conservatoire graduates, they joined Dark Horse last year as rehearsal room assistants and have been part of the creation process of My Villain Era from the very start.

🥸 Emma is an Actor-Singer and Puppeteer from Sheffield with a passion for Northern work and lover of comedy.

👉 Emma also works as a creative assistant, credits include: Anatomy of a Su***de, A. Palmer, Intimacy Captain on The Crucible, J. Young and more, and over summer will be assisting with York Theatre Royal, for their young company production of 'Wendy & Peter'. As a performer she's worked with companies like
Sam Teale productions, Slunglow, Sheffield Theatres & more

😍 Emma told us that a standout takeaway from her year is mastering the Silent Approach which she looks forward to applying as she advances in her career.

✊ Lottie is an actor, writer, and singer from Southampton with a passion for epic and gritty political theatre. Her play Aftermath looks at the dangers of spiking and women’s issues through the lens of a father.

🤩 Lottie has worked with companies like The Discarded Nut, Falling Stars Theatre, Leeds Playhouse/ Leeds Conservatoire), Sunglow and more.

🪩 Lottie told us that Dark Horse students have taught her a lot about advocating for yourself and others in a professional setting, and that no two rehearsal rooms are the same. In the future, she wants to run movement workshops for disabled and/or neurodiverse people and the skills she has developed over the past year will be crucial in working towards that.

💥 We can't stress enough how wonderful it's been to have Emma and Lottie on the team, and we're excited to see where their careers take them!

📢 Manchester, Huddersfield, get ready for something different.

👺 My Villain Era is daring, inventive and completely unlike anything else on stage. Created by our Student Ensemble after years of developing their craft, this show challenges expectations of learning disabled theatre.

🎭 Live sound created on stage. Striking movement. A story that blurs the line between hero and villain.

🤝 Experience not to be missed. Tell your friends.
