👏 PROMOTIONS 👏

There’s been plenty to celebrate on the Squadron’s social media recently which reflects the fantastic achievements and opportunities our cadets continue to embrace.

We’re delighted to congratulate Corporal Francis and Corporal Mohammed on their promotion to Corporal. Widely regarded as one of the hardest ranks to achieve in the ATC, the promotion process is competitive and demands commitment and consistently high standards. Everyone who applied should be proud of their efforts.

As part of a new Squadron tradition, both were presented with their own whistle by the OC, marking the start of this exciting chapter in their cadet careers.

👏✈️🎉

This evening, Fg Off Langton carried out an OC’s inspection of the squadron. Inspections are an important opportunity to showcase the high standards our cadets work hard to maintain as well as an opportunity to receive valuable feedback on areas where they can continue to improve and grow. Overall, the cadets did themselves and the squadron proud 🙌

Following the inspection, cadets swapped the formalities for some friendly competition with a game of Human Battleships. A Flight secured the win this time round with the most successful hits ⚓️🏆

✈️ A long-awaited day in the air! ✈️

Earlier this week, four of our cadets finally got the opportunity to complete their first flight in a Grob Tutor at RAF Leeming.

After several attempts earlier in the year were unfortunately cancelled due to poor weather, it was fantastic to see the flights finally go ahead.

Flying remains one of the most memorable experiences available to Air Cadets. To mark the occasion, each cadet has now been presented with their Blue Wings badge, recognising the successful completion of their first flight.

🥘 TRANGIA COOKING CHALLENGE 🍴

Working in teams, the cadets were given a cuisine and tasked with producing a main course and dessert using only Trangia stoves.

After some very difficult judging by the OC, the results were:

🥉 3rd Place – Team Italy 🇮🇹
🥈 2nd Place – Team Mexico 🇲🇽
🥇 1st Place – Team Mediterranean 🇬🇷

A huge thank you to Fg Off Dawes and CI Eakin for giving up their time to run the activity.

Volunteers’ Week 2026

As Volunteers’ Week comes around, it is important to take a moment to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who make our squadron what it is.

Our uniformed staff, civilian instructors and Civilian Committee members give their time, energy, expertise and unwavering support to provide opportunities for our cadets to succeed. Whether delivering training, organising activities, fundraising, maintaining facilities or supporting behind the scenes, their dedication has a lasting impact on the young people in our community.

On behalf of the squadron, thank you for everything you do. Your commitment, enthusiasm and selfless service are truly appreciated, and the success of our squadron would not be possible without you.

Happy Volunteers’ Week, and thank you for continuing to inspire the next generation 🙌🏻
