Our friends at Western Sussex Rivers Trust are running a fun general knowledge quiz on Friday 25th September at The Holbrook Club, North Heath Lane, Horsham.

Teams of up to 6 people, entry fee £2 in cash on the day, there will also be a raffle (cash to purchase tickets please).

Professor of biology and best-selling author Dave Goulson will be joining us at the Countryside Day this Sunday (6 September).

Dave is Professor of Biology at the University of Sussex. He has published more than 300 scientific articles on the ecology and conservation of bumblebees and other insects. His books include the Sunday Times bestsellers The Garden Jungle and A Sting in the Tale. His latest book, Eat the Planet Well, was shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Conservation Writing 2026.

Dave is also an ambassador for The Wildlife Trusts, the National Allotment Society and the Conservation Trust. He will have copies of several of his books available for sale on Sunday.
