BELFAST ‘POGROM’ RIOTS CONDEMNED BY GMB UNION CONGRESS

Rioting in Belfast has been slammed as ‘nothing short of a pogrom’ by GMB Congress.

Delegates at the union’s annual event - this year held in Blackpool condemned ‘racist attacks on ethnic minorities, workers and much respected members of our communities today [Thursday].

The emergency motion was moved following two nights of violence in Northern Ireland and other parts of the UK.

The Motion said:

“[Tuesday and Wednesday nights] saw a coordinated mobilisation across Britain and the
northern Ireland led by known fascist and right-wing populist agitators

“In Belfast, nothing short of a pogrom occurred where HMOs were attacked
and set ablaze, neighbourhoods terrorised, and ethnic minorities attacked

“In Glasgow, blackshirts marched through the city attacking individuals based
on the colour of their skin.

“The former Red Clydeside, now sees the ugly spawn of Mosley brazenly parading
through its streets

“The racist violence last night across Northern Ireland, with emergency services
dealing with 62 incidents has no place in our streets, and our communities.

“We say no to racism, we say no to violence incited by those who do not live in or
care one bit for our communities.”
