Saying thank you
At a very special lunch for our retiring long-serving volunteers.

We said thank you to three very special volunteers who have cared for Glaven Caring for many many years - in fact we think that over 200 years of volunteering were seated round the table.

So happy retirement wishes to Patricia, Marjorie and Brenda - for all the tables laid, dishes washed, vegetables peeled, raffle prizes sorted and their advice, laughter and companionship so generously given. We will miss you all. And many thanks too to our new trustee Graham Woodcock for doing the honours!

Please do get in touch with us if you would like to volunteer Glaven Caring - we would love to hear from you

Caring for our Carers

This month we are supporting Carers Week 2026, 8th-14th June 2026, to help raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities both locally and nationally.

At Glaven Caring, we host a monthly Caring for the Carers meet up – on the first Friday of the month. We do this to offer support and give carers and the people they care for a better quality of life and better opportunities.

As well as our regular meet up on Friday 5th June, we are holding a second meet up on Friday 12th June , 10am to 12 noon

Do join us for coffee with other carers and Russell Simpson from Alzheimer's Society who is happy to answer your questions. This is a chance to share experiences. Do bring your loved ones with you and best to call first so we know.

All carers will be invited to put their name in a hat for the chance to win a bit of a treat - a pamper certificate for one winner at Home Farm, Weybourne

Hope to see you there!

Did you know? It's Dementia Action Week this week.

One of the the three things Alzheimer's Research UK recommend that can help prevent the onset of dementia is STAY SHARP – keep your mind active. Doing crossword puzzles or Sudoku, take up a new hobby - all these can lead to increased resilience

Also TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEART- what’s good for your heart is good for your brain.

And STAY CONNECTED – social isolation has been linked to a higher risk of dementia.

And so - stroll along to our Board Games meet up at Glaven Caring - chess, scrabble, draughts, you name it! Have a chat and a coffee and play!

Our Board Games is meet up is the third Friday every month 10am to 12 noon - next one Friday 19th June - see you there.

And we are looking to start a Bridge Club too - let us know below if you are interested!
