Cookie came to our team at Wales Cat Centre - Canolfan Gathod Cymru in a dog crate as he was 10.24kg, over double the weight of an average cat!

Cookie was a little shy at first but soon warmed up to the team and now he loves a cosy lap. He wasn't a fan of his weight-management food initially, but the team trialled different options to make sure Cookie was happy, and they slowly saw the weight drop off. He moved to live with a fosterer so he could get some extra exercise, too.

Cookie left the centre at 8.66kg, having lost 1.58kg! Go Cookie! 🍪

He still has a way to go on his journey, but his new owner was more than happy to continue his plan in his new loving home.

Losing a cat can be devastating and it can sometimes feel like nobody understands what you are going through. In addition to our Paws to Listen cat grief support service, we have our Cat Remembrance Community here on Facebook, where people can share their memories and support one another.

Our 2026 CATS report found that 52% of cat owners say their cat gives them something to get up for in the morning. In fact, the top collective reasons that people choose to own a cat are companionship, reducing loneliness and reducing stress.

Hannah ran a whopping 50k in our Zoomies Series: Spring Challenge and raised over £600, touching people's hearts with the emotional reason behind her motivation.

Hannah devastatingly lost her Dad to cancer earlier this year. She decided to take on this fundraising challenge in his memory.

"My dad was a big cat man, the reason I love cats myself and am now a qualified feline nurse. After he died, the Zoomies challenge presented itself. I thought it was a fantastic opportunity to raise money in my dad’s memory.” - Hannah.

Kittens Mermaid, Olive, Skipper, Tug and Sailor were stranded on a boat and in desperate need of help. 🛶

A kind member of the public had been keeping an eye on the mother and five kittens, but sadly, one day their mother didn’t come back.

Our team at Northern Ireland Cat Centre were alerted and came to the rescue. The litter were just five weeks old, and it was clear they wouldn’t have survived much longer alone in the boat.

Although hesitant about people at first, the volunteers patiently sat with them, and all five kittens received veterinary care. The kittens were young enough to be socialised without causing them unnecessary stress. When ready, each will be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going to loving new homes.

We are sorry to say it, but the longer nights are rolling in! And as it gets cooler, your cat may be spending more time inside or snuggled up. DIY toys are an easy way to keep your cat entertained and active. Collect your toilet roll tubes, your odd socks and of course, get your hands on a classic cardboard box. 🌙

Although it became law in England in 2024, 23% of UK pet cats still aren’t microchipped*. That’s potentially over 3 million cats! 😢

Thankfully, Lillie isn’t one of them. Lillie went missing in February after a bad storm and her family was devastated. Six months later, the family got the best call ever... she had been found!

The team at Isle of Wight Cat Centre were called by a farmer to collect a cat who he had noticed hanging around. The team scanned her for a microchip and were overjoyed to find she had one with the correct contact details registered. Her owner sent us an update saying, ‘Lillie is settling into home life like she’s never been away.’

Leo was adopted from Essex Cat Centre in May and it’s safe to say he has settled in amazingly with his new owner. 🐱

"Leo has settled in extremely well. He loves kisses, cuddles and lots of fuss. Whenever I've been out, he comes to greet me at the front door."
