Jinglebell was found with a horrible injury to her shoulder. After her first surgery, the team at Stamford & District Cats Protection took her in. Although she needed lots of rest, she still loves people and would seek out fuss whenever she could. After seeing a specialist, it was advised that she needed further surgeries. These were complicated procedures, but thankfully, it went well, and she is well on the way to recovery!

This summer solstice, on the longest day of the year, can you help us find a home for Lucy Lou, our longest-stay resident who’s been in care with our team at Northern Ireland Cat Centre for over 300 days? (On average cats are in our care for 47 days).

At 13 years old, Lucy’s a mature lady who can be a little shy, but she’s made huge progress since she’s been with her fosterer and now loves nothing more than sitting on the sofa being stroked. She shows off her playful side, and a tasty meal is definitely the way to her heart!

When Jimmy came to our care at the United Kingdom Cat Centre, he had a previous eye injury due to a fight with another cat and damage to his ears. Despite his distinctive look, the team found Jimmy the perfect home with someone who loved him just the way he was. 🐾

Buttons came into our team's care at Northern Ireland Cat Centre after her owner sadly passed away. At 13 years old, she has arthritis, which was being made much worse due to her weight. At admission, she weighed almost twice the weight of the average cat. Thankfully, the team worked hard to support her health journey. Medication helped reduce the pain in her joints and allowed her to move more easily. A combination of playtime and food reduction has already made a massive difference. Although we might think cats lose a bit of weight as they age, being overweight is a common issue in older cats, which can worsen other health issues.

Meet our oldest cat in care... Louly, who'll be 20 years old in August! It's ! A day we created to help shine a light on older cats, as they take three times longer to rehome than kittens!

She may be a golden oldie, but she is in great health and just looking for the right retirement home where she can relax in style. The team at Cats Protection Rayleigh have been taking great care of her, saying she still loves to play and that she will be a perfect addition to someone's family. 🐾

Yes, this is the same cat!

When Sooty came into care, age 14, he’d previously had his front left leg and tail removed due to injury. Poor Sooty also had matted fur and was very underweight due to more than 10 abscesses in his mouth, which caused him too much pain to eat or groom himself.

The team at West Midlands Cat Centre took amazing care of him, and after lots of treatment and love, he looked like a different cat!

It's easy to assume that older cats might look thinner or matted due to their age, but injured or unwell cats don’t always show pain in obvious ways. Yearly check-ups are so important for all cats, but especially as they age.

Sweet Oscar is just two years old and has been in the care of Midwarwickshire Cats Protection for over 180 days, and we just can’t see why.

James raised over £400 for cats by taking on the challenge of a skydive! ☁️

Cat lover James wanted to give back to cats in need after he and partner Nicky found so much support from their two Cats Protection cats, while they navigated a difficult period of grief.

“Over the past 18 months, after we lost my dear mother and my partner's cats, Nala, Herbie and Lola, have been a constant source of strength and support for both me and Nicky. I honestly don’t know how we would have coped without them.” - James
