Harrogate Astronomical Society

Harrogate Astronomical Society Harrogate Astronomical Society is a warm and friendly group which is open to anyone with an interest in astronomy. There are no meetings in August and December.

We have speakers (and an occasional free raffle!) at our monthly meetings, which are held on the last Thursday of the month at 7.30pm at Harlow Hill Community Centre (The Green Hut), Harlow Avenue, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG2 0AS. Tea/coffee and biscuits are served afterwards. We do not currently hold observing sessions with telescopes (but we would like to change that!). Subs:

Unfortunately there will be no meeting this month at the Green Hut due to its refurbishment. The next meeting will be 25th June at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you once again then.

Many thanks to Richard Darn, who gave us a wide-ranging, entertaining, talk on Thursday night about Great Northern Astronomers.

He also updated us on the Dark Skies UK project (darkskiesuk.org), finishing with information concerning the current Sky At Night including which constellations and galaxies to look out for. The accompanying pictures were especially captivating!

I am sure all of us who attended this wonderful lecture will join me in thanking Richard and look forward to hearing him talk again in the not too distant future!
