Young Farmers who go the extra mile to serve the community will be celebrated with a new award at this year's Great Yorkshire Show, which takes place on Tuesday 14 – Friday 17 July.

Nominations for the Best Young Farmer Award are open now, specifically to Intermediate and Senior members of Young Farmers Clubs in Yorkshire, aged 17-28. The Award will shine a light on quietly remarkable young people who, often unseen, give so much to their local farming community.

The Award has been introduced by show organisers, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society in collaboration with the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (YFYFC), with the support of a generous donation by Baroness Anne McIntosh of Pickering. Nominations close on Tuesday 30 June and the award will be presented at the Show on Friday 17 July.

Share your experiences with phone coverage in Harrogate and Knaresborough.

After multiple residents relayed reports of patchy signal and “one bar” service, particularly with EE, we’re taking action.

EE and the Council have failed to properly coordinate and solve simple issues like a tree interfering with their phone mast. Now Cllr Matt Walker managed to get the two talking to one another we want to add residents’ voices into the conversation and find a swift resolution.

Resurrected Bites is set to host its first-ever Charity Golf Day, a major new fundraising event designed to support families across the Harrogate district while tackling food waste, hunger, and social isolation. All proceeds from the day will directly fund the charity’s work rescuing surplus food, providing affordable groceries, and creating welcoming community spaces.

The event will take place on Thursday 9 July 2026 at the picturesque Pannal Golf Club, running from 10:30 to 19:00. A 4-ball team entry costs £400, which includes a full round of golf, BBQ, competitions, an inspiring talk from Mental Performance Coach Duncan McCarthy, and an auction featuring a range of high-quality prizes.

Michelle Hayes, CEO of Resurrected Bites, said the event marks an exciting milestone for the organisation: “This is our first ever Charity Golf Day, and we’re excited to bring our supporters together for a day of sport, community spirit, and fundraising to help tackle food waste, hunger, and social isolation. Every contribution helps us continue our work to fill bellies, not bins.”
