As we ride ever closer to opening night, it feels like the perfect moment to reflect on something that sits at the heart of HOPS Musical Theatre Company.
We are so much more than a theatre company.
Yes, we love bringing spectacular productions to the stage. Yes, we love creating unforgettable nights of entertainment. But we also believe in using our platform to support causes that matter and organisations that make a real difference in people’s lives.
This year, our production of Calamity Jane is proudly supporting the incredible work of The Dodgy Walnut, a local group providing support, understanding and friendship to younger men and their partners facing a prostate cancer diagnosis.

HOPS is proudly politically neutral. However, we would not be honouring our commitment to the fight against prostate cancer if we didn’t encourage people to support a cause that could save lives.
A parliamentary petition is currently calling for the introduction of a much-needed national prostate cancer screening programme. Early detection changes outcomes. Prevention is always better than treatment.
