Tom Heap of BBC’s Countryfile and Costing The Earth is coming to Haverhill on Nov 19th. We’re v excited as we think a HEAT ‘local hero’ is going to be joining him on stage! Come along - it looks a really interesting evening.

HEAT volunteers hard at work again today clearing reeds from the river across from Bridge Street Allotments. Guided by Babergh ecologist as reeds make a valuable habitat for wildlife but also reduce the flow of water increasing flood risk

Are there really bats in the belfry? 🦇

Come along to St Mary’s Church for a fascinating evening with Suffolk Bat Group, finding out more about the bats that live in our churches, villages and surrounding countryside.

We’ll discover more about these remarkable nocturnal creatures, the species found locally and why historic buildings can be so important to them.

Have you heard? Next summer Hadleigh is having a festival to celebrate our lovely river and bring the community together. Watch this space and go to the new River Brett Festival page

Planning is now underway for the first River Brett Festival!

During June and July 2027, we'll be celebrating the River Brett that runs through Hadleigh, its nature, and the community around it, through a series of events for the whole town.

From nature walks & history talks, to music, dancing and arts & crafts, there'll be something for all ages.

There'll also be a parade through the High Street, which will be decorated with bunting created by Hadleigh's talented needle workers!

Be prepared

September is Preparedness month!

As part of the WaysUK campaign, today's theme is all about being ready for a power cut.

Power cuts can happen unexpectedly due to severe weather, infrastructure faults, or accidental damage to power lines. While many outages are short, some can last longer and affect heating, lighting, communications, and food storage.

Today's challenge is simple: check that you have a working torch in an easy-to-reach place, spare batteries available, and a charged power bank ready to use if needed.

Remember to save 105 in your phone to report a power cut and check in on neighbours, friends, and relatives who may need extra support.
