Wow, what a fantastic wellbeing photography walk with Nicola Parry yesterday at Hadleigh Country Park.

Nicola helped us take our time to observe surroundings and notice what drew our attention. Then everyone was given a prompt to explore. Swipe through to see some of the brilliant results from the morning's workshop ๐Ÿ‘‰

And if you have your own photo of something that made you stop and notice, feel free to share it below!

If you'd like to explore the creative possibilities of photography, Nicola runs a regular friendly photography group for all levels here at Shutter Squad.

Thanks to funding from Essex Community Foundation ๐Ÿ’š

Meet Nicola Parry: artist photographer, leader of Shutter Squad and our next workshop host. We caught up with Nicola to find out more about her and her practice:

*Tell us a little about you and what you create*
I am a photographer and I create work which is inspired by people and their relationships to the environments they spend time in. I use a range of camera techniques depending on what I want to convey. ย I use my digital images in a range of ways; sometimes manipulating them & sometimes printing on to different mediums.

*What do you love most about your creative practice?*
I love the immediacy of photography & also the fact that I can come back to an image taken years before and use this to create completely new work. I enjoy focusing in one theme, place or technique for an extended period to immerse myself within it. I particularly enjoy that mistakes in photography can lead to the most unexpected successes!

*What do you hope people experience when they try it?*
I hope people will enjoy immersing themselves in the environment through photography & that they will experience new ways of looking. I'd love it if participants left the session feeling excited to re-visit familiar places with their phone or camera without feeling pressure to achieve perfection.

*Who is this workshop perfect for?*
Anyone who loves to be outdoors spending time with warm, encouraging people & would like to capture some moments to remember. It will suit beginners who would like to learn a little more about developing their creativity or camera use as well as those who simply wish to get out into the local landscape & explore new ways to connect.

*What would you say to someone feeling a bit nervous about coming?*
There's absolutely no experience or technical knowledge required (although I can offer as little or as much advice as you would like). This is simply a chance to explore & enjoy a little creative time. There's no competition or judgement. This is for you!

*Whatโ€™s something small thatโ€™s bringing you joy at the moment?*
At the moment, I have been enjoying the last flights of the swallows which are flocking & feeding in preparation for migration.

Our next Creative Connections workshop host is the fabulous multi-talented Marie-Claire of Freckled Acorn Designs. Find out more about Marie-Claire and her work below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Hi Iโ€™m Marie-Claire and I am a Fiber Artist, with my main topic being weaving wall art. Amongst other subjects, including embroidery, air dry clay and polymer clay.

I love my creative time as it really helps me unwind, and I enjoy trying new techniques and overcoming any challenges.

I hope people who try my subject will enjoy the joy that I do each time I sit at the loom.

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, or those with knowledge who want to build confidence on what they already now.

Weaving is a very freestyle craft, that there is not right or wrong technique as such. You can just enjoy the flow, and the rhythm that weaving brings.

Something small thatโ€™s bringing me joy, is the little moments you can steal away to be creative and add rows to your project of weaving wall art. And the fun of seeing it being built little by little.

Marie x
