🏆 BMX Club National Event

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “It was fantastic to see our wonderful BMX Track host the biggest National Competition and meet many of the amazing volunteers, including our very own 5th in the world champion, Michelle.

As I spoke to visitors competing from all over the country who were competing, they all said how our track is one of their favourites and superbly maintained. What a credit to the club volunteers who work so hard to keep up the high standards and provide an expertly managed event. Many visitors have to travel an hour at weekends to visit a training track and we have one right here for our Gosport team and residents of all ages. It really is a sport for everyone with ages ranging from tiny children to past my age making it a whole family sport for many.

This weekend marks the 20th anniversary and I hope everyone in Gosport can share in the pride of this fabulous facility and its members. I may go and test my knees to the limits and attempt a lap myself one day 😃”

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “Wow what a pleasure to be invited along to such an awe inspiring occasion. To welcome James Ketchell back into the beautiful Premier Gosport Marina after his record breaking journey.

James is the first to circumnavigate around the world by land, air and now sea. Aboard his boat aptly named Mindset, he finally joined his fiancé and family who were proudly awaiting his arrival, also a welcoming committee of friends and supporters including the founders of the charity he has been raising money for. Supporting women who have been trafficked, to gain freedom and independence. Epic is not a strong enough word to describe this achievement. How amazing to be there for his arrival. A very proud moment for Gosport and everyone following James and his world record breaking journey.”

🧁 St Faiths Summer Fete and Bake Off.

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “I had the very difficult task of judging the wonderful treats. Very hard work indeed but someone had to do it. All entries were absolutely fantastic and the cake sales went on to make lots of valuable funds for GAFIRS.

The sunshine was booked for the day with lots of lovely stalls, inflatables, donkey rides and a barbecue. Great to see so many residents supporting the event and having a lovely day.”

🎭 Thorngate Pantomime & Variety Company Members

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “Wow! What a fantastic afternoon. Every time I have been to the Thorngate Panto I say I would love to be part of it. It’s so much fun sitting in the audience, toe tapping, dancing and singing in my seat. They clearly put on a wonderful show and have a great time doing it.

They meet each week on a Thursday evening at 7.30 and plan, rehearse, organise props and costumes. There is a part for everyone either on or off the stage. Confidence building and a great to way to make friends, it’s more than just putting on a show. A fantastic one at that. Dancing, singing, comedy and acting all at once. Making use of those skills you have learned and never get chance to show off.

I took the lovely Amie along with me this time and my lovely mum went too. She’s seen them in action and enjoyed it so much.

I’m certainly looking forward to the next show. Thank you so much for another afternoon of fabulous entertainment.”

📚 Lee Hub

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “ was invited along to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Lee Hub Independent Community Library. The place was full in every room with those enjoying coffee and plenty of lovely cake. I managed to talk to a fair few visitors before home time and people were very happy to celebrate what the Hub means to them.

5 years or being run solely by trustees and volunteers, the Hub is a wonderful asset to the community. Providing a space for many classes and groups, coffee mornings and lunches, a data hub, a fabulous children’s library and general library. If you can’t find a book they can order it in for you. The coffee is absolutely lovely and very reasonably priced too. Very worth a visit. Congratulations to the wonderful team of volunteers and the community that use it. We are very grateful and proud of your dedication, 5 years 🥳🍾🥂”

🛟Gosport And Fareham Inshore Rescue Service AGM

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “I am extremely proud as Mayor of Gosport to be joint President, along with Tina Ellis, Mayor of Fareham, to GAFIRS
(Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service).

Many residents are so familiar and reliant on them, they don’t always understand how much they should be appreciated and how lucky we are to have them on our waters edge. All volunteers, giving up their precious time and often going out into dangerous waters themselves, they are there on call for when that bleeper goes. The AGM was a chance to hand out long service awards, recognition awards and to discuss the many rescue events of the year and what is planned for the future. To be honest it was quite emotional and us presidents were filled with so much pride for the people in front of us. A massive thank you for inviting us along and a massive thank you for your service.

🥁 Porchester Volunteer Marching Band

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “It was wonderful to be invited along to the launch of Portchester Volunteer Marching Band. It was set in the stunning location of Portchester Castle, the band played flawlessly to many fun and fabulous songs.

All looking very smart in their lovely new uniforms and new instruments. When you hear a band it always lifts any occasion and I will be very pleased to see them again.

Following the launch, I was honoured to attend the D~Day 82 memorial service in the church. Very moving indeed and proud to sit with the many veterans.”

Cllr Kirsten Bradley- “It was a great honour to be invited to HMS Collingwood, Annual Divisions.

I am extremely proud of our British Military and it’s wonderful to see those standing with pride on the parade ground. A very moving speech and of course the band played with great pride and grandeur. “
